Decided to take advantage of the good weather and hunt for the flat kind with Tsuri. We got on the water a bit late but still dropped a crab pot and a ring and proceeded to make a couple of drifts hoping for an early season fish. I tried for a bit to make bait with a sabiki but struck out on the smelt and went to two rods with frozen bait.

Tsuri got a nice eater @26" pretty quick and then went to check his crab ring. I followed up with another decent fish @ 28". Not big but good eaters. We tried a few more drifts for nada and then checked the crab pots. Lot's of 6" red rock crabs and a few legal dungie females were tossed back. We ended up with two decent male keepers and decided to call it an early day.

It was great to beat traffic home and the fish tacos and crab were off the hook! I can't wait to do it again!

Thanks guys! Frozen Herring seemed to work the best. We had chovies too but both fish came on herring.
