I think we're going a little overboard w/the team thing. Because a team of 5+ people defeats the purpose---which is to increase safety OTW. Do you really want to keep track of 4 or 5 other people? Or just 1 or 2 other people? That's how the "buddy system" works.

Uncle Abby, don't think I forgot that 6er I owe you from our 2008 cabezon sidebet! Debt to be paid in full @ GS4 buddy!

RE: Teams - Don't have one yet.  I'm a relative newbie but I won the Mew Melones Trout Bout with the 15" leviathan.  Skinniest trout I ever saw but he had attitude. :smt011

JWR - You're welcome to join Team Shark Bait. There are too many loose screws out there.
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

That's great - how old are they?  We can definitely set them up with some T's - I'll have a post and likely a mass PM dedicated to that later when I'm getting ready to have them printed.

definitely want in on that, 2 shirts, going on 13.....   Oh my.... Trouble....

Sorry guys,
Just having fun (must be my loose screw)
The team with names was just for fun (like trash talking)
OTW I figured we would split into doubles anyway.

Looking for a teammate.  I have GPS, compass, whistle, and better homemade hooch.  I'll probably get a vhf by then too (anyone selling?).  If the only technical requirement for experience is that I have paddled a kayak in the ocean, I've got that covered too.

Also interested in getting kid's t-shirts.

Crash, you can team up with me if you like... though we should probably avoid politics OTW   :smt003

I've got all the gear and I have a radio you can use if you haven't picked one up by then. I've been on the ocean maybe a dozen times, I'm not sure if that counts as "experience" ... I wouldn't refer to myself that way.

A hoppy IPA can't be beat.  Just thinking about it makes me thirsty.

Correct Pat. For safety purposes and teaching, 2-4 people with 50% or more the team having salt water experience is ideal. More than 4 people can be doable but on foggy or swelly days, it can be hard to keep an eye on everybody. We commonly fish in groups of 4-8 at Big Sur, but everyone is experienced. We will unfortunately have to limit "Team Home Brew" to 3 people. Luckily we have alot of experienced guys on the outing so all of the newbies should be able to pair up with a vet.

Scott,
A team of 3 works great for me.  I have a lot of hours in the yak on various waters but Shelter Cove is new to me and I'm looking forward to learning more about it and the species we will be targeting.

Thanks Ben.  We'd actually do just fine having a civil political discussion I'm sure.

Also, in the highly unlikely event of a crystal clear night on the California coast, there is a spot off of Chemise Mountain where you can see the lights of the San Francisco Bay area.  There may be night trekking involved.

Oh, no doubt, I was just having a little fun. Seeing the bay area from that part of the world sounds remarkable. Talking my wife into a night-time trek up the mountain might be more of a challenge however  :smt002

I just confirmed space #96 at the campground. Not sure who my neighbors are, but will be a great time for sure.

She said the campground is filling up fast for the rockfish opener.

BanjoTad will be sharing the space, there might be room for another small tent (if I remember right) so if someone gets there and needs a space, I am sure there will be lots of room this year.

Man I can't wait

Ready I have a plum wine, a hard cider, a Cab Franc/Merlot meritage style blend from Amador County grapes, and am probably going to brew a sweet cherry wheat beer for the occasion.
