Looks like a great trip Sean. I am going next year. 10 bucks a day socked away in a fund would do it.

See you there!

Beautiful stories and great pictures both above and below the water. Maybe next year we can all caravan down and invade the Ranch.

Sounds like a plan!!

GREAT reports/pics from one of my favorite places on earth.  It's so nice seeing my friends enjoying the fishing, food, ambiance.  I just wished I was there too.  And anyone who knows me, knows how much I love to prepare and eat poki and sashimi, so thanks to Sean for those tasty food shots.

Sean and Leah are always great hosts, especially at Ranch.  I've been there with them twice and nothing could be more fun.

Terry, you're starting to look like an old pro.  I bet it doesn't take you 2 hours to land a toro anymore. :smt044

Dustin, it's no surprise to me that you would get into some big baja fish.  I'm sorry to hear you didn't land the marlin, but that must have been the ultimate rush.

Gotta love the Ranch!!!

:smt010  WTHook, Look and GetDown Boyz!!, you guys were on it and looks like it was just as fun as i thought.
thanks for the "tribute to a fool" shot fellas. :smt009  Even though i made a big $,$$$(x2) mistake and didn't make it down(all the way), the pics and report makes me cry, as i kick myself in the nuts a few more times.

You looked like i wanted to look in the pics, fishey, hot, happy and HOT!(i didn't want the hot part, but i know it goes with the territory)

I'm still pissed and not over it yet, but knowing i was missed and knowing QualityFish were hook'd, makes me happy and envoius!!
and when you see me the next time...please kick me in my ass Real_hard, for i deserve it.

Very nice report Sean.  I so want to get back down to Baja one of these days.

Hey Adam,

For every time you get down on yourself about Baja...do yourself a favor and print out a few copies of these and post them near your computer and get your stoke back!

Adam~

I totally feel for ya bro.
I am kicking myself in the nuts over this one as well. I talked with PAL about the necessity for passports on the Islander trip. I wanted to avoid any problems for anyone going on that trip so I checked it out well in advance. Even called the border patrol and spoke to three different people after getting the run around to finally get the answer I was looking for. ( No need for them on the Islander trip. There is an 'unless clause' but no need to worry about it.)
I didn't even consider my brothers going down to Baja and for that I humbly apologize.
It literally brings tears to my eyes you didn't make it.
Just know that NEXT YEAR will even be better. That much sweeter.
Imagine landing at the airport, finally making it to the Ranch. Gear stowed in room. Flat seas staring at you while sitting at the dinner table, hoisting a brew in a toast to the next days adventure and knowing how much sweeter the next day will be.

I would have rather been kicked in the balls than have Adam miss out on this trip. It actually kind of felt like that when Adam told me "my party is over". There were moments when we were out on the water and I would sit back and ponder how perfect everything was and then it would hit me that it would be better if the fishunter was here with us. You were missed my friend, every day.

Thanx for bringing that up AGAIN chuck. I totally deserve the hazing but I did have my vengence and it was sweet.
It was a grand battle but It didnt go over 15 minutes. It was great to see Rockhopper tangled up with so many and everyone of them bringing the heavy bendo and sleigh ride. What a fish!
I had a few small Toro hang out under my boat for quite a while. Not sure whether they felt safe there do to my angling skills or whether they were after the carnada that would occasionally escape through the scupper holes.

Just wanted to point out that the panga style trip is the shizzle. Flying in is great because you are fresh when you arrive at the ranch and the on the water advantages are easy to see in the report, BUT
last years road trip to the ranch was an adventure beyond what can be desribed in any report.
A month doing Baja at the pace we set is a special kind of brutal. Be careful what you wish for.
One of the great things about the road trip style is that its your boat and gear that you are using. The new OK boats were nice and it was great to get them covered in blood but it still isnt YOUR gear and your boat of choice with its custom comforts.

the game is still there and yes, they do have a hobie there. A Quest. Thought about paddling it because I think the foot pegs are the best of any kayak ive paddled but was just starting to get comfortable (well, kind of) in the prowler and stuck with it.

If you go to Baja by car, how long it takes you to get there? it is a safe to drive? What papers work do you need to get thru the border? I am just wondering?  :smt001

Yup, a RAM tube or Scotty mount IN FRONT of me woulda resulted in just a few more hook-ups.

Sean, when should I start looking for the 2010 guide schedule? You plan on guiding another trip next year too, right?  :smt028
