Well, another fun filled trip to Rancho Leonero.  I started my trip a few days ahead of the crew to get things situated, chill with Leah, and visit with friends.

When we got there I scoped out the new boats, got things set up, and took long-time angling buddy Dave Manning out for a pre-fish.

We hit one of my favorite areas with bait and iron.  It didn't take long for a sardina to find its way into the jaws of this tasty guy.  This one weighed in at 17#s bled...a fatty!

We then worked the yoyo hoping for some quality.  A bit later Dave got roped and was off on a ride. Twenty minutes later he landed 27 pounds yft...

We stuffed the two fish in a fish bag and called it a day with over 40 of quality appetizer on board.  We got everything cleaned and chilled in ice.  Later we went to work with the Forschers...

The result.  A huge ahi platter and three big bowls of ahi poki...

Plus another platter of pargo sashimi with cilantro, slivered jalepenos, and ponzu...Oh yeah!!!

Leah relaxed at the bar...

The next day we shared a cruiser with the Mannings.  We got into a wide open bite on peanut yft.  Great fun for the whole crew.  With no kids around and her shorts covered in tuna blood, my wife was looking hotter than ever!!!

Even little Alex put a few in the box...

The crew arrived shortly after we returned. Terry, Dustin, and Vee...

And we all got to meet Bruce Dodd, who we later named "Iron" Bruce.  This guy is great, and loves to get his fish on!

Adam was no where to be seen???  WTF...No Fishunter?? I'll let him tell that story. :smt010 :smt010 :smt010

With guests it was time to make more raw fish...

Ahi, belly, and poki...

The next day we went out in cold and windy weather.  We fished the lighthouse for nothing but needles.  We later went further out and had our first taste of baja as Dusting got RIPPED by a striped marlin that took him on a ride until it broke off...OH yeah!!!

Bruce then caught one of MANY toro...

Terry put a black skipjack in the box.  While these get no love from most folks they are one of the best eating of all for sashimi etc..time for aku poki!!!

The loins got packed in ice in my bait tank...it is baja after all.

One last round...

We fished the beach in the am for jacks and roosters...

I occasionally fished off the back of the panga between retying needle-savaged leaders and reloading the fellas with bait...

The boys all fished well...

Cute gallolito!!!

Toro are really strong.  Dustin caught a lot of toro on his new Abu Toro.  I was drooling on his reel all week...

Later we would head out for dodos etc...

Lots of little dodos (all released)...

Some better aku...

They just kept coming...

and coming...

Waiting for the beginning of a new day....

and we were back on the beach...

Terry with a nice pargo from 3 feet of water...

Dustin with a tank of a toro...

A little more panga entertainment (released)...

Dustin with some dinner...

and yet another shaker...

Bruce with one of many skippys...

Terry with a nice hen...

Every day ended with a toast to our great pangero Rene...

Bruce with a nice pompano...

Terry with one of his ladies...

Another bonus fish...

Bruce at it again...

and again!!

When the boys got tired and or thirsty they fished off the panga for a few...

All in all we caught a ton of fish and had an absolute blast.  Brand new yaks, panga support, and great company.  Definitely one of my funnest trips ever to the Ranch. Can't wait to go back!!!

I have a lot of video too.  I'll get it up in the next few days.

Absolutely AWESOME REPORT,PICTURES AND VIDEO Sean. Thanks a bunch for sharing.
I kid you not when I say my mouth is still watering from all the fine sushi plates you
guys made. I hope to have enough money left over from my Philippine trip to come
along for next year.

Thanks again,

I really don't need to see this! How am I ever going to fit a trip like that into my schedule? I'd need a 53 week year.
I'm glad it all went well. Great pics, as usual. I like them all but my 3 favorites are the tiny gallo, the yak line behind the panga, and the gear on the beach. Oh, the food too!
Welcome back, lets go angling!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I actually reached sashimi/poki saturation on this trip...something I didn't believe was possible!
