Made the cliff portage with Sackyak this morning. The dense kelp and protected slot beach held down the 3-5 ft NW swell. The launch was easy, messy though as the swell over the weekend piled tons of slick algae at the launch. We paddled south, anchored to kelp and worked the reef with irons and plastics. The SW wind combined with the NW swell made for a swift and bumpy drift.Super exciting wash rocks and surge channels in the mixed up weather made for a challenging ride.We found a few pockets of clear water amid a generally cloudy and churned up water clarity.Working the kelp we found a spotty bite of blues, kelps, blacks, olives and greenling.I landed a limit of ten and kept seven including the greenling and some chunky olives and blacks.Sackyak C&R some quality fish, pulling up a beautiful vermie on the last drop of the day.Blown and tossed off the water at 10:30, we made the cliff scramble while trading stories.Once again, plenty of paddling action and groceries for the commandos. :smt003

Nice report, looks like a huge greenling or is just the pic,

I've scoped out that launch a couple of times wondering how hard it would be once i got the yak to the edge of the dropoff.  Did you use anything special besides brute force?

It sure is a fishy looking spot.

Yep, the greenling was a fatty 15.5" female.

We just use brute force, wheeleze and rope.

Yep, the olive and the blue were caught on the same drop.Caught the blue on the iron fairly deep and the olive on the way up on the white worm teaser....kinda like two fights in one.
