Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that I was finally given a chance to catch a halibut today. The bad news is that I wanted to follow
Sonny's footstep and take tons of pictures of the fight. BIG MISTAKE!!!
Being distracted of possibly losing the camera while trying to net the fish and
holding the fishing pole at the sametime, I lost the fish. :smt013 I even loosen
the drag knowing that the halibut have been know to pull a Houdini disappearing
act while inside the net. I guess it was not meant to be once again. :smt010

Thanks Surf Hunter and Shannon for the hookup today and for the left over
shinners.

Congrats to Stormscrambler and Rock Hopper on their catch today.

The weather got pretty nasty after 1pm. You had to constantly watch the water
making sure you weren't caught off guard by sneaking waves.

BTW, I met a couple of nice new member who had so much questions on how to
go about rigging for kayak fishing. I am so sorry I have forgotten your names. I am
so bad at that. I apologise. I hope I have answered most of your questions and
if you have anymore, please post them. There are so many experienced folks here
that are willing to give advice. Good luck to your choices in the future and I hope
to see you guys on the water soon.

Sorry about your lost Hali Jed.  I know there're risks involved in taking "action pictures" of the fight but my thinking is you can catch and eat a fish for a day (maybe several days if it's BIG)  :smt003 but the pictures/memory of you fish you took will be there for a long long time :smt001  Don't worry, we'll try to catch the one you lost tomorrow  :smt044  Thanks for the report and pictures.  BTW I have 2 questions:

1) How could you hold the camera, fishing rod, and net at the same time?

2) Where are the pictures of the "lost" fish?  :smt003

Here is the picture of the lost fish. By any chance, am I the title holder for the
longest streak on the halibut? 1 for 8 now. :smt009

"E" for effort, Jed!  :smt003
Too bad you lost it but glad it happened in the name of tryin' to document the experience to share with your comrades!  :smt001

Oh, & I don't know about you, but I'd rather lose the fish than the camera, at least until my budget expands exponentially...

Ah!! The second picture shows why I lost the fish. It was barely hooked. That just
made me feel better beside having Martin's homemade beer. :smt005 When the
fish jumped out of the net, there was really nothing I could have done differently
to have kept the fish. Oh well, I'll just drink more of Martin's beer to dampen the
blues.

Dude take pictures of your fish after you catch it and it's on your game clip. No one cares about pics of you catching the fish. Next time we go fishing together I am going to hide your camera from you till you have your fish on the gameclip.

Jedmo if it was in the net all the way get the rod out of the way and grab both sides of the net with one hand so it cannot get out. put it on the clip, kill it and then take pics. I did see in the second pic that the hook was just on by the slightest bit. I want that ones mama tommorrow.

Dustin, how many is that this year so far? I think that every time I have seen you in a post you have fish. Still going south?

Its called catch and release.  Sometimes you decide the time of release, sometimes the fish decides.
