I was working near La Selva beach recently and brought a surf rod to fish a little after work. There were others enjoying the beach, surfing, fishing, etc. I brought a compact, foldable, camo stool with me and left my sweater folded on top of it about 10-15 yards away from a white OK kayak with dive stickers on it that two surfers were using to kayak surf. They had their surf boards as well. It wasn't a surfing kayak, they were just messing around in the waves(many wipe outs). I was working the beach and was probably 150-200 yards away but kept an eye on my belongings. I watched them leaving and am positive they had seen me leave the items near their kayak(so they knew it was mine). Next thing you know my stuff is gone and so were they. I didn't see them grab it as I was distracted by some eye candy at that exact moment. Once I realized my stuff was gone I charged up the hill and caught them before they could leave. I had to get nasty with them and let them know things were going to get ugly if my stuff didn't reappear immediately. Thieving punks coughed it up without hesitation after I shoved one and threatened the other. I fish to try and stay out of trouble as I've already had my fair share of it. Keep an eye on your belongings and avoid the beaches, too many car break-ins and drama

Once you got your stuff you should have commenced with a beatdown.   :smt021  At the least they deserved a good bitch-slapping...glad you caught the little pricks!

Good job getting your stuff back.

I'm all for the Bitch-slap...They need to know there are ramifications for acting like a punk.

Sticky fingers is one of the worst out there. Good to hear you got your

Good work Calbear!!

I would have done the same thing.

We recently had a punk come into our admin building claiming to be looking for work. When my admin gal looked down to grab a job application, this jerk grabbed a bunch of signed checks off her desk and bolted out the door. She yelled out to me, I grabbed my cell phone and flew out my office door. By the time I hit our parking lot, he was about 200 yards away running down the street. As I ran after him, I dialed 911, and informed dispatch of my location and what went down. They told me to not try to apprehend him, and units were on the way. I caught him about a mile and a half from the plant, just as a black and white rounded the corner.

The funny side of this is as the female officer was writing the incident report, she figured out that I had just run over a mile and a half and that I was 51 years old (at the time) and this kid was maybe 20. She says "You ran that whole distance while you were on the phone? Yeah. "How do you stay in shape?"And of course I say, " I'm an ocean kayak fisherman", and she says " Thats Crazy"!!! :smt044

And then the guy turns and blows your head off with a gun. Then what? You still a hero?

Judd you are obviously out of your mind to think that a life is worth a bunch of checks or some fishing gear. Go and ask any law enforcement official abd they will tell you this. Let us do our job and dont incur any more liabilities for us. I have trained in martial arts for a long time and have trained with some of the best in law enforcement. I know what a life is worth. And I also know how much a family depends on the breadwinner.

A hero is someone who risks his or her life to save another, Like many of our soldiers overseas, or our firefighters, police and many others that ran into those burning towers.

Stopping a punk that steals money from you after you assessed he had no weapons based upon the clothing he was wearing, a size of the perp and the element of surprize ( in my case he never knew I was there until I spun him around) is not heroic, its just how I roll. I would never risk my life for a few hundred bucks.

Ariel, so you know the officer !! :smt044

Did I forget to mention that I couldn't move my legs for the next few days? :smt009
