Yeah SBD, on to bigger and better. A few of us stayed a night before Elk last year and I gotta say that campground was pretty plush. If I can find a way to make it down, I be there!

Sean,
If August at Albion is no-go due to previous bookings, what about September so we can go Abbin' or is that out for the rest of the folks due to school back in session and all?

I would be hesitant to blame or crucify the shop owners at Elk. First, and I may be wrong as hell, these are the people that are going to be the hardest hit when MLPA comes along as with the denial of the Elk tournament. I would make sure of the shop owners feelings on Seans tourney before boycotting them. They may have been the voice in favor of NCKA.

Yeah, i second this.  The people who run the deli have always appreciated us being there and hearing reports of our diving and fishing adventures even when there is not a tourney.  Besides those sandwiches with "special mustard sauce" and dutch crunch roles are the bomb after a long day fishing/diving/climbing the hill!!!

after last year' s tourney I ordered a smoked turkey sandwich from the deli b/c i couldn't wait for dinner.  During the 'wich's construction, the deli gal sneezed twice.  I didn't want to be rude, so I just bought it anyway.  Talk about special mustard...   :smt005

I do plan on fishing Elk if I'm up that way.  I won't say i'll boycott a particular vendor, but I would take special effort to patronize those vendors/businesses that supported the Elk tourney in the past.

Well, that sucks....an NCKA yearly tradition put to end :smt011 What's really heart breaking is the fact that Sean and his family put this tournament together with thoughts of helping out the community of Elk (the money we all donated went to the restoration of the Community Center). And now they have the nerve to say "hey thanks for the money but don't come back - EVER!"  :smt011 THAT REALLY BLOWS :smt013

I say we fish Elk anyway.....they may have taken away our camp site BUT THEY CAN'T TAKE AWAY our yearly tradition of fishing. I'll fish Albion with NCKA....but I'll plan on fishing Elk more....and show 'em my determination to fish despite their "votes"  :rambo:

I will miss this venue... :smt012

yeah, those faulkers!!  lets do it and then go buy a bunch of sneezed on sandwiches from the "nice people" deli......let then know we are supporting those who backed us and thanks for trying, but we're all going to spend our $$ up in Albion, we have no other choice.

Yep. It kinda stings a little doesn't it. I thinks it's odd that they would choose this year of economic downturn to dis any type of incoming dollars, but I s'pose zealots often see nothing other than their tunnel vision views.

I ate it anyway, and didn't get sick. :smt003  So, yeah, I'd eat there again...

Sean, was it really just GCC's anti-fishing contingent that produced this severe *ockblock?  so myopic, its just one weekend out of the whole season, a real drop in the bucket

I, like many others, will be in if it doesn't conflict with other plans.

Sad I didn't get to fish the Elk Tourney but still plan on fishing the area - maybe pre or post Albion with the others.

With no limit on people I'm sure we will see some new faces to.

This could be a catch 22.  More (people) is better but is this a newb friendly location?  I don't know as I've never been there but some have said yes, others said no.
