And change the name for sure. Man I was looking forward to the hill everyone talks about though. Can you still fish there? It's a park, right?

You can definitely still fish there, its not a reserve...

Dutch ovens work great for cobbler.

Well, there is this.....

Sean,

I assume the shower/restroom facilities are equal to if not better than at the Greenwood Community Center?  If so, then the Han/Thornley clan is thumbs up for 2009.

Eric-the folks that don't want us are anti-fishing people...its not about our behavior

That's so stupid - 20 or 30 kayaks amount to one party boat, minus the noise and pollution, and most kayak fishermen are more respectful of the resource than the average cattle boat passenger.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

OK, here's my spin on things.
Last year at Elk I got one fish. It is not like I have no clue how to fish (I know some might beg to differ   :smt002). It just was not happening for me.
CHUB and I headed to Albion the day after Elk and SLAYED the fish two days in a row.
I caught my biggest cab at Albion, 28''.
The only way the launch could be any easier is if someone set up your kayak for you and carried you to the water, and even THAT would be more of a PITA than the actual launch.
The showers are pay showers, quarter operated. There is a hose next to the bathroom to wash down your kayak.
If you should happen to forget something once you do get your kayak to the launch you can shout to your campsite, "Hey, toss me my....." It won't take 20 minutes or more out of your fishing time to get it. Less time on the hill means more time fishing.
If the tides are right you can let the river take you out and bring you home.
The downside is that it can get windy. No trees or hills for protection from the wind or sun but with the proper vehicles parked in the proper place it will definitely curb the wind.
There is no indoor venue, unless you are using the bathrooms.  :smt044
It will be a big NCKA tent city.
If I could have voted for two options I would have voted for Albion this year AND 2010. As it stands I voted for this year.

Hi Yakers:

I lived in Albion for eight Years and the "Flats have a life of their
own". Great family Campground. The "Albion Inn" is a Great place to eat if, you have the Money. The Albion Mkt. has eveything you need.
Look for the White  Oregon Dory "Rage" in the Pond because, I helped restore it!
I'm in but, staying at my Moms' in Ft. Bragg. :smt001

Albion looks good to me. Will most likely tow my trailer since they have full hoodups. Let me know the dates.

Thanks

This sounds great!  I will try to get the time off work.  I have a dutch oven for cobbler.  I also wonder how well those little coleman ovens work.  The one which sits on top of the camp stove.  Just a though...I love cobbler and pies.  Mmmmmm

Darn, I was looking forward to trying that cardiac hill this year.  Oh well  :smt003
