This question is probably for Sean, but I thought I would post it for all:

Do we have any projected dates for the upcoming fishing events this year? I have to put in for my vacation days pretty far in advance, so I was wondering about dates for CSBA, Elk, and BAM. I know BAM is pretty far out, but CSBA should be just about a month and a half away. It's time to make my campsite reservations!  :smt003

Yeah, & my annual SoCal fishing trip is coming up on 4/10.
As I recall, last year Jim & I registered for Elk RFF 2008 just after that trip...so, we're watching.

CSBA is california striped bass association.  they hold a tourney at lake mendocino every year.

BAM is for everyone - no restrictions and sean would love to have as many people as possible.

Elk is usually limited to 50 out of town participants.  Usually a first come first serve type deal.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm a kayakfishing vet but an NCKA/Norcal rookie. What I know for sure is the NCKA events, hook-ups, fish & chill & NCKA'ers is a whole lot more fun and beats out anything that goes on down south. I've done all the events down south nothing compares to the support and camaraderie that is NCKA.

CSBA is May 2nd. This years event will only be open to folks who went last year.  Prizes will be generous, and it will be free.

Elk is the first weekend in August.

BAM is likely canceled unless lake levels improve dramatically.

Bummer about BAM, but I guess I'll have to get my fix at the CSBA. Will there be a mailer for the tourney, or do we need to RSVP with you Sean?

Well since the Elk/Albion event will be in July, I will wait for that to be inked in and I am thinking a mid Aug date for AOTD.  This year I was thinking of doing two events, one for ocean and one for lake fishing.  Maybe the lake event could be substitute for BAM.  How about  Del Valle or Lake Sonoma.  The ocean will be the salt point area with camping somewhere up there.  Allen we need to get on group campsite res soon.  I'm open to any other ideas.

I'm in the same boat, Ariel. Was really looking forward to participating in the legendary NCKA events of Elk, BAM, and CSBA for the first time. Bummer. But I do look forward to the christening of Albion!

There was nothing said that you can't fish during CSBA, just that you wouldn't be part of the competition. For me, it's one and the same anyway because I don't have any expectation of winning. I just like to participate with the group.

Understand I can't fish the 2009 CSBA competition because its only open to the '08 participants. Probably the same format for the 2010 CSBA.

If I did go just to fish and not partake in the comp can I still camp with the group?
