Exactly! Just go straight through town on Livermore Ave. You'll start to see some vineyards and after a 90 degree left curve in the road you'll see the stop light at Mines Rd. Turn right on Mines and follow the signs directly to the lake.

Note: Mines Rd will actually become a different road as you climb the hills, but no worries, just stay on the main road and it takes you straight to the lake.

Yep, that'll take you to the main entrance/launch ramp area. I think there is another route on maps at least, but your PDF file is the way we go.

The way I'm going from Santa Cruz co. is 17 to 680 to 84/Valicitos RD, going right at Y remaining on Valicitos Rd. up to to the first big intersection Concannon blvd. then going Right, and staying on it till it "Tee" into S. livermore.  Going right again and staying on S.Livermore/Tesla rd till I see Mines rd then going right on Mines.  (About 1 mile down) staying on Mines to the lake.

If you are coming from the south bay or Santa Cruz/Monterey area, Troy nailed it - 680 N to 84 E/Valicitos Rd, etc.  Those are the directions given to me every time, and I too use google.  I don't know what gives.

I attached Google's directions from San Jose, just pick it up from 680 N.  Not exactly sure where the starting point is - maybe center of SJ?

Thanks, guys, I'll try that way too.  I just figured it was faster to blast up 680 to 580, only takes a few minutes from the 84 turnoff, (if there's no traffic or cops).

From the Bay area it's.580 east exit Airport west. Then right on 84. The next turn will be Concanon left. Concanon dead ends on Mines Rd. right, then watch for Del Valle sign about 1 mile right.

Mapquest did the same thing to me, I even stopped at agas station, of course I get the only guy in town who doesn't know there is a lake.  I feel your pain.  Stormscrambler hooked me up on direction on the way back!
