bad news for orcas.  Everyone loves dolphins.  Orca are going to need a new PR campaign.  Thanks sin for giving me one more thing to worry about :smt002

I saw the program on Nat Geo channel a few days ago.  Think it was called " Killers in the bay"

My buddy tells me that some orcas eat fish, like the ones in Puget Sound, and others prefer to hunt down seals, dolphins, and other animals...  same species, different tastes?

I think I'd rather see/witness a GWS out there, than to come across/get catapulted  by a KW.....JMHO :smt002

Dolphins, grey whales, seals...yummy.

I heard somewhere that they think there are two distinct 'families' of killer whales. T pods and the salmon eating pods. The two families do not interbreed.

Heard this too. I'll try to track down a source.

Gotta say again, that is incredible footage - amazing animals.

The show I watched said there were " Residents" and "Transients" family groups.  The Transients target the mammals, dolphins seals etc, and the residents usually eat fish (salmon) those we have in Monterey bay would be transients,  Although, one researcher reconized some residents from Washington (Puget sound) up here in Monterey.
