Oh, I'm not a 1-man show. I fully expect my NCKA brothers and sisters to pitch in and help.
But, yeah, I am really excited about this event---despite the fact we're still 251 days away!

Here’s a link to Google satellite images of the group sites at Plaskett Creek campground.
If you click on the option button that says MORE, you’ll get to check out some photos of the area---pretty cool feature. These photos will give you a good idea of what the area looks like. I am also planning to drive down there soon for some shore rockfishing---and I’ll take some pics of the campground and stuff.

And here is a link to some aerial images of the coastline.
You can see part of the group sites in the top-right of this photo.

The californiacoastline.org site is really fun to play with---especially when you hit the Time Comparison button.

Yes, that is a good idea. This is not an event for profit.
Maybe a $10 MBF buy-in with 20% going to ACS in Chef's name. That w/b cool.

I was thinking of building a custom Calstar rod and donating it as the first place prize then getting sponsors to donate other prizes and having all of the funds go to charity. What do you think?

We would be in of friday. Might even stay a couple days after at Plaskett or Limekiln.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

YES Scott, that would be killer!  :smt007 :smt007 :smt007
I am planning to make a flyer/poster, so it's legit, then start looking around for donations. I have some general ideas, but I'm also hoping some of our bros & sisters can lend a hand.

Pat, let us all know what you need help with and we'll see what we can do.  Since I'm so far from monterey there's not much I can do locally but I will help with what you need.

are we just reserving the campsites for friday and sat nights or also for sunday?

My wife ran an auction as a benefit once, and she actually used Craigslist to find an intern to help make the donation calls. Intern was a Non-profit grant writer that just wanted the practice. They ended up with TONS of stuff (airline tickets, cases of wine, botox, teeth whitening - it was crazy). They ended up raising like 65K or something.
might be able to use the same approach here?

Hey Pat,  Let me know what I can do to help you out.  This seems like it will be a good size event.

Count me in fellas!
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Need to get some of that launch/landing practice in beforehand  :smt003, which hopefully will happen a lot more than last year.
And of course if you need a hand let me know.

I checked www.recreation.gov and all 3 group sites at Plaskett Creek are available the wknd of September 25-27. Each group site can accommodate 40 people and 10 cars (and dogs are allowed).

We were camping up at Willow Creek last week and stopped in at Plaskett. The host said 10 cars per group site, there is extra parking at the bottom for $5 a pop. Also, depending on who's in charge of parking, if nobody is using one of the other group sites they generally don't care if you use that site's parking too.
