Yeah Chuck, I was thinking along the same lines....not too competitive. But something like a MBF or "fishin-and-chillin" format. It's really all about getting together and having a good time with friends. It doesn't get much better than camping, chillin, BBQin, and fishing in Big Sur in September.

I am "this close" to pressing the button and reserving a group site for the 25+26. Just need to confirm those dates do not conflict with any other events. Elk is in August and BAM is in October, right?

Camping?  Kayaking?  Fishing?  A chance to pay respect to a NCKA legend?

Yes, please.

I'll go too.  I try to make at least one big sur run a year.  I've yet to dive there but would like to do so at some point, a multi-day trip would allow more activities.  Hiking those coastal hills could also be interesting.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Alright....IT'S ON!

I just reserved Group Site 1 at Plaskett Creek campground for September 25 and 26.

The other 2 Group Sites are also available, but Site 1 is the best one and I didn't want it to get away! If anybody wants to reserve another group site, make sure to get Group Site 2 because it is adjacent to Site 1 (and its much better than Site 3).

I've stayed at Plaskett a number of times.  it's pretty nice.  Problem I wold see isgetting to, and parking a at a launch area.  not too many parking spots at Mill Creek to my memory.

maybe we cold organize a shuttle with trailers or something?

I would love this also.  PK. I'm willing to work on this with you.

Yeah, there's a couple launch spots to choose from, depending on the swell+wind. We can always split into groups to accomodate those who'd prefer a mellower launch, etc. No biggie.

I'll post up another thread once we get closer to the event to get a list of participants, coordinate food, donations, tackle to bring, places to fish, etc. Heck that sounds like 4 or 5 more threads hahaha!

And I also want to say that I am not an ambasadeur for Big Sur or an expert or anything like that. There are tons of people who know way more about Big Sur than I do. But I'll share what I know and hopefully others can contribute too. I just want to share the treasure of Big Sur's beautifully-rugged coastline with my friends and have a great time. It's gonna be awesome!
