I think there's a bit of mis-communication going on here.  I'm not sure that Judd meant anything particularly insulting (it's not clear), and I for one will be the first to make jokes about my "prosperous silhouette."

I've learned the hard way these bad vibe deals take on a life of their own.  We're all Water-men and women here.  Let's focus on that.

And Judd, I'm gonna prove you wrong:  40lbs in one year, dude.

Very good thread and an even better INVESTMENT on Life (& future Yaking Adventures!)
three points I would like to make here that have kept the weight off me for the past 20yrs.

1~ Stop your SODA intake immediately! Replace it with PURE WATER ONLY...it will be rough at first, but after a few weeks, your body will CRAVE IT(the water) and your soda urges will be gone forever.(this one thing will melt a few pounds right off the top&from the start.

2~ Eat more Fruits and FIBER (not that boxed cereal) By eating Fruits(and drinking water) throughout the day, your metabolism will speed up, resulting in Calorie Burn-off....by NOT eating small amounts thoughout the day, your body says to itself,"Hold & Store ALL FAT & Calories inside, we don't know when we're gonna get our next meal".
If you eat small&throughout the day, after a while the body will freely and EASILY burn-off some calories.

3~ get out of the house and do something! walk, clean up yard, wash cars, ride bikes, play something like Frisbee, SmashBall and lastBUTnotLEAST!.... GO FISH! (in your kayak)

I hope this helps you get started in the right direction fellas.....just keep at it and try to eliminate one thing at a time......don't just go ColdTurkey or it will be too hard and you'll quit.

I think this is key. Tho' as I am a dork I need some actual numbers to quantify my "doing something", I purchased a pedometer and set myself a daily target. It really helps get me off my butt.

Although I do look like even more of a dork.

Plus now I have given away my secret to winning BLOTY. D'oh.

I'll add that when I stopped putting sugar in my morning coffee I lost 3lbs in 2 weeks doing nothing else.

Apples & raw carrot snacks several times a day help a lot too.

BAM!...the above added and a good hot bowl of oatmeal, maltomeal or cream of wheat in the morning will keep you feeling FULL until lunchtime. You stomach will be working full-time to process all that fiber, making it hard to put more food into it.
