I'm not an authoritative source, but I know the answer: we're not splitting up trout and steelhead into separate categories.
The decision to target river salmon versus landlocked salmon is a personal choice. As long as it's legal, it will count towards AOTY. Installing an ethics provision will open pandora's box....and she's got a mighty big box hahahaha.

I thought there was some sort of Spearfisher of the Year tourney in 2006, but I c/b wrong. There might be others interested in having another contest like that. Maybe post a thread to gauge interest...

The spotted bass question was a good one, Ben.

Heres a good question. If a person catches a green sturgeon measures it alongside the kayak against marks on the boat and is witnessed. Does it count towards AOTY points for sturgeon? Iknow that you can't keep them but I'm just asking. It could have happened that way for me but it ended up not mattering because I caught a white keeper shortly after on the same day. Bill?

6. No out off season, oversize or undersize (fish larger than the legal limit or smaller then the legal limit per species) may be entered. All local water rules must be followed.

I read that to imply fish that aren't legal to retain are not eligible for AOTY points.

I really didn't want to ask, but here it is.

What about the "native" steelhead that we might catch on the Russian?

Or....what about a steelhead on any C&R river?

If they are legal to fish for they count
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I think that answers my question. While not specifically targeting green sturgeon they are a bycatch not to be counted. Makes sense.

Congrats to everyone who made the top ten!! I wanted to do it this year, I wound up 13th, same as last year, its a tough team to go toe to toe with, with lots of brotherly love, last years goal was to get top ten, that was my mistake, next year I want to win.
