Met Naoaki at my place up the river for a drift of about a mile. Water is starting to clear and the flows are still up a bit. Didn't catch any fish but we had a good time. In the Series of Photos Naoaki shows us the proper way to cross the river.

Then he shows us the wrong way.

I saw a rod in the first post but not one before he dumped it in the second post, is this supposed to be a "how to" lesson?  I can't imagine it is because that looks to be some cold a$$ water - way uncomfortable. NO BUENO!

Hey Naoaki~

Thanks for the laugh. Glad you made it safely to shore.
Mike, great action shots!!!!!!
So did the current suck the side down or was UN just knocked off balance?

Wow...! That is a classic shot. I would've love to see video of that dumping. Too bad it happened on the river though... no chance of a yard sale there.

Naoaki-

How cold was it??? And I'm glad you're okay...

I got into the water & just 5 seconds later I was trying to cross the strong current straight then "flip"... :smt010  I managed to grab my both rods & swam (more likely walked) to the shore. :smt009  This time, I was wearing PFD so I float.  I lost measuring board & tape but this time that was it (no Jim's rods & reels, thank God!).
good thing the water wasn't too cold, so we just kept fishing.  the water was pretty muddy.  I was afraid to fish in the current, so stay on the shore. :smt012  Mickfish said he got some light hit, but nothing for me.
Pics are Mickfish's very coordinate river drift fishing!
Russian steel...  2nd yak-fish try, dumped twice, & no fish... hopefully, 3rd time's the charm! :smt002

Naoaki-

That current is pretty deceptive. I almost dumped it a few times going across the current on the American River. It's pretty fun too. Like you said, the 3rd time is the charm. Better luck next time.

I just wanted to get a shot of him crossing, I was stashing the camera when I heard a yelp.

Everybody swims Naoaki, way to recover. Of course you will be tormented with these shots for years . Great job Mike.
That place looks familiar. Maybe Fitch mountain?  good small mouth fishing there right?
