2008 AOTY Sponsorship and Prizes

With all the experiance out there it is quite intimidating.  I know all of you are there to help us virgins out and I would like to speak for all of them or at least most of them we say thanks.

I signed up but I'm not "In-it-to-win-it" THIS YEAR!   I liken myself to a dry sponge, just want to absorb as much info as possible from the veterans and maybe surprise 'em in a couple years.  In fact, my goals for AOTY are simple:
1) finish in the top half of the field
2) Learn as much as possible (see dumb dry-sponge comment)
3) and fish for other species (see #2).

I see the schwag and raffle as icing on the cake.

BTW, how do we know if we qualify for schwag?  I think I signed up early enough.  Bill, ChuckE, any other powers that be?

Chuck can answer for sure but I am guessing we have enough swag for at least the first 50 and it is first come first serve.

I have never fished for or caught a salmon.

I have never fished for or caught bass.

I have never fished for or caught a striper.

I have yet to catch a legal size ling. 

All this, and I have just signed up for AOTY.

But beware...

I will have beginner's luck.

I will have the luck of the Irish.

I have not one lucky rabbit(t)'s foot, but two.

I just want to express my gratitude to Chuck, Bill, Sean, Erik, Mooch, and anyone else who put in the time and effort to get sponsors for AOTY '08.

For those of you who are hesitant - the first year we had a virtual tournie that was broken down by species. I did not enter any of the species pools and wound up catching a striper that would've taken the striper pot. 

Even with the new format, if you don't win the whole thing you always have a shot at the biggest fish in a single catagory!

The plan is to distribute the 1st batch of captain's bag o' schwagg our annual AOTY awards gathering still to be determined.  We should do it sometime this February like last year.  March at the latest.

For those who can't make it to the awards gig, we can arrange for their bags can be picked up at a local paddle shop near them.  For example, East Bay guys can get theirs at CCK in Oakland or Sunrise Mtn Sports in Livermore.  South Bay guys can get theirs at Mel Cotton's or Outback Adventures.  Pennisula guys can get theirs at Aquan Sports and North Bay guys can get theirs at Windtoys in Santa Rosa.

Any chance us "coastally challenged" folks can get our goodies someplace closer? Like maybe CCK in Rancho Cordova.

Maybe Danglin can shuttle them up here for us.
