Scariest night ever…

Well, this one has been crazy.  I can't get to the bar or I'd go join Al for a beer or six.

Went outside earlier and it was deafening with the sound of cracking and falling trees.

Bar sounds much better than being clobbered by falling trees.

Egads. Stay safe!

Working along side a tree company in the rain this morning in Felton Received a text alert of lighting and up to 80mph gusts just before 1pm. Well, let's just say the job was shut down in a second!  Its nuts over here in the santa cruz/monterey bay. Will be working with pge tomorrow. I am sure i will be seeing a lot of  trees and power lines down . 

Due to all of the rain, our septic tank refused to drain properly, so had to get it pumped (urgently) today. That was done by about 1:00pm. At that point, there was not much consistent wind as our area is well protected from the south. But, the occasional gust, made me think it was time to go. So, we headed to town, and had to dodge fallen branches on the roads, but we made it. Whew!

The wife wants to sleep at home tonight, but I think I'll camp out in my car somewhere that's not near any trees...

Sounds like a good plan Mark. The people at the bar are all saying they have never seen anything like what happened today. Story's of a sideways cyclone up 236 downd at least a half dozen trees before Jamison creek saw video of the carnage.  Too bad ya cant join Tedski, its truly a night to talk up in town. Hearing snow storms at the summit now

No, that's a neighbor that only uses it as  vacation home so thankfully no one there or anything. Got pics on the front and back side, it took out 1/4 of that house.
They brought in pizza to the bar so no reason to leave. Dogs are cool too haha

"Serious storm today got me to evacuate after seeing a tree fall and take out my neighbors porch. A vacation rental on my street just got clobbered by a tree. Had to help clear the road on west park to make it to town. Once T town cNt go anywhere so I'm at the bar for now drinking."

- That seems like the best idea. Drink and talk storm stories.

Yikes, scary stuff there. Hope all is ok.  Crazy weather the last few weeks.

Wow. Almost slammed into a tree on the east bound lane ( in the road)off castroville and San Miguel Rd near Elkhorn. Called 911 and reported. Luckily I was driving below the speed limit even though some jackhoo was tailgating me. Hard swerve and just missed it. I could see the jackhoo behind me clip part of it as his headlights bounced a little bit. He did slow down after that. The excitement still wasn't over. I did hit a substantial poodle in the road that perked me up.

Great ride on the way to work. Be safe all and take your time on the roads today.  Glad I did.
