Since this will be my first kayak camping event, I would like to how this trip might unfold?  A few questions,  how or what does everyone do for food?  Pretty much bring their own? Buffet style? what?
I do have the "mooch special"  BBQ grill still new in the box I can bring if more BBQ grill space is needed.
When I go on 4X4 trips (jeeps) we try not to double up on equipment, meaning one of use will carry the stove & cooking gear, so no one else needes to carry theirs, someone else will have the BBQ & utensils, etc... Of corse we all carry our own camping gear IE tents, chairs, matt etc...
Do these events work like this?

For dinner, bring a dish to share - just sound off (I will bring Lumpia - enough for 2 nights)
For breakfast and lunch, your on your own.

I'll have my 2-burner gas stove with me (which anyone can use)

A BBQ grill would be nice have too. Just sound off if you plan to bring yours.

Just bring your own untensils, and camp chairs.

Bring a nice bright lamp - the more the better - it's pretty dark out there and the site is pretty big. Lot's of gopher holes at the site, so please try not to walk around the site with out a flash light or a head lamp.

Here's some pics of the camp site....

I think I might be able to bring my small gas (propane) webber grill,(with 2 bottles) Instead of the "mooch special" grilliput. Might have to make 2 trips to the truck though.  I'll test pack everything be for the trip.  Maybe I'll bring my inflatable kayak for my barge.

I might be able to stop by after work Friday, I can be there at at around 3 since I work less than a half hour away. I'll hang out for the evening.

Mooch,

the OTHER Ken wants in on this too. He can't access a computer so he asked me to relay this to you. There are a couple more that are trying to make up their minds.

How about an organized pot luck shore lunch on Saturday 10/13 followed by informal fishing clinics for those who want to attend. I have a Malibu 2XL  I can tow in also if people bring kids or wives and want to introduce them to fishing. Thanks for organizing.

Great Idea Scott!

Since the fishing usually slows down in the afternoon - and if there is enough interest, we can do some newbie clinics during a BBQ lunch on the camp shoreline.

I'll be more than happy to demo:
Self rescue
Surf launching and landing
kayak rigging ideas
kayak fishing "must have" tools and safety equipment

Scott will add to the demo as well.

Perhaps we can talk Compa into doing a seminar on Bass Fishing  :smt002

Compa and fishhunter on LMB for sure. I would also like an underwater photography clinic from adam if he is up to it.

If the weather is nice I would like to try a few self rescues on my OB.  So far I've been lucky and not been tossed off it or fell out for any reason. (all fresh water to date)
BBQ, I'll definitely have my small gas webber for the trip, all are welcome to use whenever.

Really looking forward to this!

Mooch,
I don't mind doing a little lecture, but I think the one you want teaching there is the OTHER Ken. He is the master of Del Valle and bass fishing. He can outfiish me 2 to 1 any day. Let me run it by him and see what he says. :smt002
