Looks like there's a few distributors in 408 that sell dry ice.  Although not sure if they do direct sales, as opposed to commercial quantities only.  find a place in your neighborhood

http://www.dryicedirectory.com/usa.htm

Thanks. That is a very useful website.

The powerbait catfish nuggets work pretty well and you don't have to keep them on dry ice. I will bring some to the outing and you can do a comparison.

Do they sell regular ice at the little tackle shop there? You could just buy another bag on Sunday or something

yes they do - but they tend to run out of 'em some times.

Sorry to get back to talking dry ice.  you guys have to go the URL i posted and read some of the alternative uses.

by way of arguably cruel (but hilarious) example:

GOPHER ERADICATION
Dry Ice is heavier than air so it will find its way to the bottom of gopher dwellings. Place 1 to 2 inch pieces as deep into each hole as can be reached and fill the front of the hole with dirt. If you miss some holes the process may have to be repeated. Jerry Yamamoto of Hayward, California reports that he successfully used Dry Ice to eradicate regular Argentine ants from his front yard. Perhaps this could work on fire ants too.

In my experience a block of regular ice will last at least a week in an ice chest, even in the hottest of weather.

Mooch,

What time would be the check in and check out?

Check in is at 2 PM Friday

Check out is at 12PM Sunday

I just want to warn everyone that traffic on 580 is stop and go on Fridays.  Check this site to check the traffic conditions => www.511.org

I also stopped by that little tackle shop in Castro Valley and it's a neat shop with gear for all types of fishing including tuna and rockfish.  They had the hard to find hex bars for Lingcods.  It's an old style mom and pop tackle store which have been pushed out of business by the mega sporting goods stores.  They also have quality frozen bait on trays which are good for Halibut.  I definitely will frequent them more for the saltwater fishing next year since they are close to where I work.  If I get a chance, I'll take a picture of the store aisles.

I'm wondering what everyone is bringing to share for dinners?  I'm bringing a few lbs of marinated skirt steaks, I believe Mooch is bringing Lumpia? Anyone else?

Mooch,

How will we get the parking passes for this weekend?

I have some firewood I could bring, but don't know how to take it to camp. I can bring a ruber maid tub full of mostly old fence wood and a bit of pine.

We could tow it over on the water or maybe put the tub on wheels and cart it on land. I would be glad to help you as I'm sure other campfire-loving people would. Just say the word.
