OK, first hand account, I'm a big fruit eater, annually I go up into the "delta" area several times to buy fruit for freezing and canning, things are just starting to get underway.

I just got back from two of my favorite stops, yes it's mostly outdoors, but mask wearing was down below 20% in both places today,

IMO, at this point wearing a mask in close proximity to others is just common courtesy, it is so damn easy.

Yeah, I really don’t understand the resistance. I think in the case of masks it’s really just about not doing it simply because they’re being told to. It’s just a piece of clothing, like a shirt or shoes. It won’t stop virus but it will stop the bigger droplets that carry more of them. I agree it’s just common courtesy at this point.

For those looking for a couple of the controversial  videos that got pulled from YouTube, they can be found on  altcensored.com   I'll not bother to link, as inclusion of them here earlier really raised the ire level beyond what I was hoping (in this one thread at least) to have.

I do recommend going and looking at a second Bakersfield (Kern County) doctors video on YouTube. They go into better detail on their test pool (much more random than was previously thought) and a good deal of other pertinent information. It's still going to be controversial, so I'll just include the link and not imbed the video.

FWIW, I'm extremely dismayed by the yanking of their first video. Sure it was open to a LOT of questions/skepticism/criticism. But there were no deliberate  lies or falsehoods. So who was so scared of well intentioned, well educated people expressing opinions that are merely unpopular amongst some other group of people? So very 1984...

It would be a good “marketing” move if they removed it themselves. Do we know for certain that their first video was removed by Facebook?

Back to stats for a moment, a couple of relevant ones
40% of people making <$40,000/year lost there jobs in March
This sounds wrong. Seems like the only people still working like normal without interuption are the kids bagging groceries, working at fast food joints, etc...who I assume don’t make very much $

agreed that grocery stores and fast food and gas stations are open.  But shopping all around the grocery stores are closed.  Restaurants are closed, except for a few that offer takeout (minimal staff).  Shopping malls are closed.  (Most retail is closed).  All of these employ low cost labor so unfortunately I can see that 40% is not an unreasonable number.  (4 out of 10 lost their job.  Waiters/dishwashers/bartenders/some cooks etc in the restaurant business, all sales associates at retail stores....)

I just meant that it (40%) seemed higher than I would’ve guessed. But if that’s what the numbers really say, then I believe it. Unfortunate situation either way.

On the other hand if you take into account all the people slaving away in restaurants or farms who don’t even register in the numbers it may be an undercount

70% unemployment in Hawaii sounds high too, but I’ve heard it from two separate families who live there, not sure what official numbers are
