I have never been in a situation where a firearm was needed (#civilianlife). Nor have I ever been in a situation where a firearm would've made things "better." I don't carry one and don't feel it's necessary, for me. That's ok right...deciding how I want to live my life based on my own personal experiences?

Yes, of course.

It's judging my decisions and deciding how I should live my life based upon your personal experiences that is problematic.

This reminds me of when someone asks about stringer vs. clip and gets told to CnR.

Wow. You guys sure are having fun. You should all get together throw your guns in a pile, and have yourselves a good ol' circle jerk.

What if this was about where to stow your lip grips while in a kayak? It is amazing how people demonize an inanimate object. It is also interesting how some worship the same object. Psychologists say we fear what we do not understand. Binary math scares the snot out of me.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
