Here you go.  Scotty deck mount with a Scotty Backing Plate in the back.  Its solid.  None of my fishing buddies use Gear Tracs.  Thats just us.

Mel, I guess you must like my DR setup. ;)

Btw, this DR setup works pretty well with the Shuttle Hawk line descender (at least for the lakes). I replaced the DR line with a 175lb braid to eliminate the humming noise while trolling. Only issue I have is my leg calf rubs the DR a little bit when pedaling.

For those putting the gear tracks behind the  seat, per ThreemonkeyJ's pics, be aware that right behind the seat is where you mount a Hobie Sidekick Ama. The center bar is a permanent install  so  don't block it with a track if you think you might someday want an Ama.

Just use the Yakattack sidekick adapters.  You can remove the center bar any time you want.

Like so.

I ran into a little dilemma. I cant reach the locknuts for the rear track location..  Is there anyway to install the gt90 without a full backing plate?

I was planning to just use larger washers.

I'm sure you could use rivets, but it wouldn't be as secure as backing them with a plate. it's difficult to back anything in that mid-rear tankwell area due to placement of the hatches in hobies.

But rigging bullets will work for the full backing plate since the backing plate is threaded.  I have a pair of rigging bullets somewhere that I'd be happy to mail you if I can find them.

That be great if you can, let me know..  I guess I may have to order some backing plates.  I will just install the fronts for now.

Must get the backing plates.  One less headache is worth the extra $$$.

You can make your own backing plates if you don't wanna get the Yakattack ones. Just get a piece of hdpe or wood or cutting board material and drill holes through it, so it matches the yakattack rail. Glue a nylon locknut to your "backing plate" where the holes are drilled (or better yet, heat up the nuts and sink them into the plastic). Then just do the same thing as you'd do to install using the rigging bullets. But yeah, it's easier to simply use the Yakattack fullback rigging plate :-)

This was for a different project, but similar concept...(in terms of sinking the nuts into the plastic)

I think we are talking about the backing plate for the rails underneath the rails, to screw the bits inplace.

.25 inch thick aluminum about 1/2" in width.  Its tapped to match 8/32 screw..

If I were to buy the aluminum plates or metal, drill and tap myself it would not save me much money and time.   Unless I can get 20 orders and sell for half the price I may do it. lol

I bought these parts along with the hobie through hull wire plug; that did not come with a rubber grommet to seal the wires.   Im not sure why companies sell these parts in bits.  At least make it a bit more clear. Now I have to for over additional shipping.

I only plan to mount 1 rod holder on right ride behind seat and fish finder on the left.  But installing 2 tracks on opposite sides just doesnt feel right. :smt005
