i just broke tear..... :smt010  those were some fun times FoSho!

not boasting here, but in these two pictures, you can see the lack of nutrition they were being subject to, by the snakeyness of them.  :smt009

What time of year was that Adam?  I have never caught a skinny striper in mendo like that... most have big round bellies like some of your earlier pictures.
Fatbelly pic was in May......the Snake pics were from Nov. 2007

on the:  Why no more striper plants?
i remember it falling into the catagory of: California can not plant anymore non native fish, therefore the companies that sold them to CSBA couldn't.

Figures... good thing most fish are able to reproduce on their own, since there are so few native freshwater species around.  There was a time when stripers migrated up the Russian river all on there own.

It seems like it was managed as a put & take fishery. So, where'd the fish go? They got took.

The fish were definitely put there for the purpose of consumption... no doubting that.  I took my fair share as well, don't get me wrong.  It is just sad to see it go is all.  Like I posted before, last year I made one trip... caught three, kept one.  I figured what the hell... If I don't keep it, someone else will... and letting it go wasn't going to do anything for spawning numbers.
