Thanks guys. So far no word on the car being recovered. Ive been moving into a new place and I am almost done. Havent had any problems with them returning to our place. I havent been staying there since the incident. I will propably lose my deposit on the place I was in. I didnt give my 30 day notice but I will be out before the first. We'll see, I sure could use that $900 right now

Wow, super scary, especially the fact that your son's door was opened.  Consider yourself and your family blessed that you are safe.  Stuff is replaceable... lives aren't.

My dog sleeps on hair trigger alert for any noise (good dog!) and I sleep with a loaded .45 or 12 gauge within arms reach, every night.  For prowlers outside the house I'm content to call 911 and wait for the law to arrive, but inside the house is a different story... anybody fucks with me, my woman, or my dog inside my house, they are going straight to hell.

OMG that really brings up some memories for me. My house was robbed last year while I was away for just a couple of hours. It is such a violating feeling. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I were home and sleeping when it happened. I'm so grateful that you and your family are safe. I don't know what else to say...

Having had my truck broken into earlier this year I can relate.  My folks got robbed about 15 years ago just before Christmas.  With the economy the way it is, I think we are going to see more of this behavior.  I am glad to hear both you and your family are okay!

Ok heres the latest update. I have been on the process of moving to Turlock. So this past sunday my father and I head with a trailer to the condo where we got robbed. One block away I happen to look down the end of a court and see the baby blue color car down at the end. I immediately tell my turn to turn around. Sure enough it was her car. My dad calls the sheriff and I call my fiance. One hour later the officer shows up :smt011 . The whole drivers side is wiped out. They side swiped something front to back. Bumpers hanging down, all 4 rims just ruined (18" alloy Scion rims)
As I am talking to the "community service" officer that they sent out to do the report, the guy that lives across the street from where the car is parked, comes out and tells us that the car wasnt there at 11pm the night before when he got home. So that means these morons are out driving a stolen car and come back to a block to from where it was stolen from. Idiots! I have a feeling they live in the same complex. So the officer comes up with an excuse that they cant finger print because of the moisture and signs the release and leaves. Oh and when we went to open the door it was locked! They locked the car after their joyride! We find the inside to be covered with Mcdonalds wrappers, sodas. When my fiance started it Techno music was blaring. They took all her paper documents to her car as well. And they even took the brand new pack of toilet paper in the hatch! So we got nowhere, and now we are waiting for the estimator to come look at the car so it can be fixed. I doubt they will total it. But they sure beat the crap out of it. At least they put her in a rental car. a 09 Dodge Caliber with 5000 miles on the Odo.

Just happen to accidentally dent in the passenger side quarter panel before estimator comes. Quarters are quite expensive to replace ..

On another note have the cops looked in to some who lives in you complex that has access to house keys like property management or leasing office??

The condos are all single story but it's a big complex. They are each individually owned, there is a homeowners association but they dont have keys to any units.

Every Mcdonalds drive thru is under surveillance like Fort Knox.  I bet your boys are on tape somewhere.

Are any of the condos Section 8 housing?  If so, that's where you'll find the neighborhood hoodlums.

problem is the cops don't seem to care, if they did i am sure they could figure out who stole the car with some work.

i think in this day and age with a lot of uncertainty and bad economy people need to realize they need to take protection to a more personal level and realize you cant always rely on having police at the scene when needed at any given moment. many cities are running on low funds so a well staffed police force is not always available. also you cant safely assume that the person who is robbing you is unarmed and will do so in a friendly and safe manner.

i think as a parent to be i am even more concerned because i dont live in a prime real estate area and on the megan's law site we are surrounded by blue dots so i always think about safety.

it sounds kind of unfortunate but i personally am thankful i have the right to own and bear arms legally and do keep one available at all times when i am at home. when i am not at home its put away locked. when my wife is home alone she also feels better knowing she has access to it just in case trouble erupts.

we live down a small alley and the neighbors across from us were robbed during early evening hours while they were both home and the thieves pulled the screen door open and made off with a laptop among other items. the robbers could have just as well have been armed and had they confronted them it could have ended up really ugly for the residents.

i hope to god i don't ever have to use it on someone but should i be confronted with someone entering my house who is armed and threatening me or my family i would not hesitate to defend.

nothing makes a sound like the cycling of a shotgun. i think its a sound thats universally recognized and will generally make people thing twice about bringing upon harm to your family.

with the economic downturn guns have been selling like hotcakes. even the cheapest shotgun for 149.00 at big 5 can stare down the busiest criminal should they enter your house. take a gun class and go to the range to get familiar with it and just be comfortable operating it. may be a good time to get one because in short time we may no longer have the ability to buy so easily.

im not pro-violence but i am all for protecting oneself and family because you have the right and the ability to do so. the police usually show up after something happens.

I agree 100%!  911 is very rarely going to help prevent a violent crime.  Law enforcement simply can not prevent most crimes of violence that occur in people's homes, and when LE does show up, too often it's to pick up the pieces or call the coroner.  I'm 100% pro-LE, but the fact is that the criminals have the upper hand and they know that (in California at least) a large proportion of populace has a victim mentality and will not take measures to protect themselves, such as locking their doors, being vigilant, and being physically and mentally prepared to counter a violent threat with extreme prejudice.
