You Tube Yakkers conflict Ken/Karen adolescent 'commies' CAPITOLA

I do understand their frustrations with YouTubers, though their bigotry is disgusting. I hope they get identified and dragged over the coals in their own social circles.

The Bolinas halibut thread from a few years back is a classic example of YouTubers going too far and blowing up a spot that is important to local fishermen, and these homophobic kids probably assume all YouTubers are equally disrespectful.

The irony is that this video was likely to be a bunch of uneventful, soon-to-be discarded footage, and in trying to protect their fishing grounds, they've turned it into into a video with viral potential, right in their secret spot. Pretty dumb.

Nick and Adam, stay safe in Santa Cruz. I wouldn't want to run into those guys on land.

Last Saturday I showed up at HMB around noon. The ocean was a bit rough so I stayed near the rocks outside the jaws, drifting squid for an hour or two. Then in late afternoon everything calmed, flat ocean, no wind, and I went out to the reefs between the red and green cans. I had them all to myself for about two hours in the evening. It was super peaceful, almost meditative conditions. There were a few power boats scattered around, just enough to feel comfortable.

Caught a whole mess of rockfish, one undersized ling, lost a borderline-keeper ling at the boat, and had two drag-pulling bites that fell off in the first ten seconds.

A few years ago, I had my new to me kayak and I was unloading at HMB.  Two grizzled gray haired kayakers approached me and were quite friendly.  Then one paused and gave me a squint "You aren't one of those NCKA dudes are you?  They blow up all the spots."   This problem is as old as fishing.

"spot burning" is a joke. "localism" is a joke. If you put the time/effort/resources to get out on the water and find these fish you deserve to catch them. The amount of effort it even takes to get out there and do this is tremendous. You put all this time and money into trying to get on fish and when you don't catch it is discouraging. So yea, I am going to pull together all my resources to find out where and how fish are being caught. There are simply too many humans on this earth and a lot of them are assholes. I laughed my ass off at this video. People suck and you can' please everyone.

Not in Santa Cruz.  That shit is baked into their psyche.  I learned how to surf there in the early 90s and it was really bad.  Almost got in a fight with a longboarder who thought he owned the place, and that guy was my own cousin.  He's still not happy I showed up there 30 years on.  Him and his buddies are total shitcocks and they are old enough to be the grandparents of the kids on the boat in this video.

The ironic thing about this incident is the kids on the boat obviously know who Nick is — because they watch his videos on youtube. Right? They’re like the moden-day version of psychotic delusional groupies who stalk movie stars or professional atheletes or famous singers. It’s kind of funny…because Nick & Adam can handle their shit and they managed the incident perfectly. It wouldn’t be as funny if it was an older or less experienced kayaker. Keep doing what you guys do. But be careful around kooks like the kids in that video. You already know.
