Thanks for the video.  I know exactly where that spot is, even with fog and no background.  The flat water is my landmark.

......Best Line IMHO is "you can't even grow a mustache!"

So speaks the sultan of stache!

Honestly……I watched random parts of the video and can’t tell who’s the problem. Lateral Vision had it right…..we just need to make fishing lame again.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

That's just horrible. On the brighter side, they got material out of the encounter.

I thought about watching that video. And then I thought about what type of content I want to reward on YouTube.

100%  The irony is my bio (under my name) was inspired by the author of this wonderful video after being publicly reamed in a similar fashion.  But hey, a man needs his ad revenue somehow.

Watched the first 5 minutes...those dudes in the boat went about it all wrong calling him names...BUT I think some of us reasonable people share their frustration.  Whether it was the Bolinas thread or some other spot burning thread, these dudes just simply learn these spots from other people then straight up burn it.  For most people before youtube, you'd have to do some serious googlemap searches or know some people before learning about specific launches.  It doesn't mean it was a secret spot, but just kept on the low for a good reason.  Then you got this new generation of youtube "anglers" that got their shit all backwards.

We're not asking you to stop making youtube content, just stop burning spots. Make similar fishing videos you are now minus all the spot burning and the whole world won't hate you.  It is possible to fish locations and not burn the shit out of it on your youtube videos....it really is.

Also, if I was on a kayak, I'd probably not be talking all that shit following the boat around.  Wasn't this the dude that accidentally got ran over by some boat a while back?  If so, then he obviously doesn't realize some people out there are reckless and he'd lose that fight on the water 100%.

technology always changes the game, changes the rules, lowers barriers to entry - can't fight that.

re: the youtubers, I thank them for helping me through the pandemic, and getting me excited about fishing and kayak fishing again (after a 10 year break from both), in fact, I found out about NCKA through one of them (MooMoo Outdoors videos - and joined)

and this video still cracks me up, almost like it was staged, buy some grundens and your a pro!

funny stuff

I've always felt like one thing fishing had going for it is that fishing localism, while kinda present, was way more mellow than surf localism.  Sad to see that's maybe changing...  I guess any limited resource can fall victim to that, and the frustration is understandable, but you hate to see it.

I think the comments about Youtuber spot blowing is probably spot on, I just haven't been watching these videos for long, but I can spot landmarks I've seen and figure things out.  But they literally did what all other boaters do, saw someone hooking up on fish, made a move.  That video didn't burn any spots, but I can tell it's a common thing with these guys from all the comments on it.  I had some boaters screw with me just because I was in a kayak and in "their spot" with about 50 other boaters, and I always kept my distance, I never crossed a line, and drifted with the pack and would reel up if a fish was on near me.  I had a guy follow me with his boat once, that was pretty messed up.  I got into yelling matches with some, I know someone has video of it out there somewhere.  Haters are going to hate, and when your a minority and they hate on you, they deserve whatever they get IMHO.  If they wanted to get them to change, they took the wrong approach.  Hell, once a few of us were paddling back into the harbor and a boater cut right between two of us throwing a big wake.  They later claimed they had engine trouble when we caught up with them, pretty sure they did it on purpose though.

It could have easily gotten out of hand quick.  Imagine if Nick was the only one there, or if he didn't have cameras to hold folks accountable.  Those guys could have hit him with the boat then disappeared.  Maybe it's the Texan in me but I just assume everyone has a gun within reach.

Aside from the folks seeking the attention/views, does the sponsorship force them to share locations? Pretty sad if that's the exchange.

Thank you Bushy for the share  :smt006 Yeah sorry guys, not one of my proudest moments but it happened!  KPD I'll try to make some no bullshit salmon footage this year.  I like those videos the best too.  Kayak / boater / commercial / youtube etiquette is such a gray line here and I'll admit I'm still learning to be respectful.  Anyways I don't post here often but I really appreciate this community for helping me get started and all the support.  It feels good to have a big kayak family to fall back on thanks guys

Really is a tough pill. Especially with so many of us growing up learning or own locations and correct gear on our own with trial and error. Was more word of mouth. The internet has changed many things good and bad.

Would be nice if you tubers focused more on gear, regulations, ethics than exact locations.

With enough prodding maybe we can all help to change that. Definitely younger guys and gals that need a little more knowledge from the O.G's

Even with spots blowing up on hot bites, i'm actually really impressed with the fish people have been catching in Santa Cruz this year.  I used to be one that would always say there are NO FISH IN Santa Cruz, but it looks like it's just not the case anymore.  Some really good fishing being reported these days and it was pretty bleak a lot of the time for several years.  I guess I just mean that there is plenty of fish in the sea and no reason to fight over it.

Monterey bay fishing has changed for the better. Ever since they restricted the bottom trawlers. the fishing has improved greatly over the years. Especially halibut. Salmon fishing is hit and miss yearly with water temps fluctuating  in the bay.
