I'm hoping to not get a call from wife telling me that a "Widow maker" found shelter in our house during this storm!  I'm sure my creek is running pretty good right now, (Gold creek) during the last set of storms (beginning of the season rains) that dumped about 3" in the SC mtns, I went down to the creek and checked it, it had risen 8" or so to just about 1' in depth, but was completly filling to both sides that deep. Usual flow has the creek only about 4' wide.  Then it was 15' across!
I'm sure it's all of that during these storms.
I hope those of you close to running water don't have any problems or troubles with it!

I admit that the rain is great except when you have to work in it (Crossing Guard in Alameda).  Still it is nothing compared to the typhoon I went through in 86 on Iwo Jima, the eye went by at only 50 miles away and the winds went up to over 100 mph (sustained for over a week).

about 3 years ago during the super bowl sturgeon derby i was in the mother of all storms anchored up in cach slough , we had like 5 boats all tied together and i remember hearing the winds howl and at about 4 in the morning the anchor broke for all five boats and sent us into the bank , luckaly we had some seasoned delta rats on board who got us back on track , the next morning the river looked like a hurricane hit , tress floatin down river , a boat sunk! good times!

Got update from wife about last storm, at night, she told me she heard a "loud crack" outside then felt the house shake a little.  (freaked her a little ) after investigating, (It was dark out around 10:30 pm) she didn't see any big limbs or branches on the house or deck! (Lucked out there)
Next morning, however she discovered a huge fur branch laying across a planter bed, it took out the redwood limb fence I had put up to keep deer out of the bed, and one end of it was/is laying close to my OB!  Apparently the branch brushed my kayak, which is hanging below the deck but somewhat exposed, and the kayak in rebound, hit the deck supports, causing the house to shake.
She said the kayak is still hanging and didn't looked damaged.
So, I have one more limb to cut up for firewood now!
Our creek is flowing really good now, she mentioned that water was flying past the newly fixed bridge area at the bottom, (Watershed restoration project for steelhead I have a post with pictures somewhere here)
and up on our property its flowing full!

Fortunatly for us (her) the storm wasn't as bad as predicted.
