Finally joined the clan and made a drift anchor system for my Prowler 15. I did not want something permanently mounted. I can install this and remove it in 10 seconds with no tools required.
Not sure if I could have done this as easily without the small deck plate I installed earlier. It gives me great access behind the tank well.

The challenge of the design was working with the groves made for the rudder. There is no flat surface on the back.
I got some 1'' x 3/16th" bar stock and some 1" angle iron and got to welding.
I installed an eye loop ,which I elevated with a couple of extra nuts, on the kayak at the end of the rudder grove so the 1" stock would slide underneath.

The 1" stock slides under the elevated eye loop and the 'V' of the angle iron fits into the rudder groove.

An 8" eyebolt goes through the rear rudder hole. I took a piece of aluminum tubing and cut a wedge into it so it would take up the gap between the iron and the kayak.

A wing nut and washer underneath is all it takes to secure everything. Here is a shot from below.

The final product.

Remove the wing nut, pull the eye bolt straight up and the entire unit comes right off.

I filled the gap between the angle iron and the bar stock with expanding foam just to keep the water out.
Now all I have to do is make the anchor and I am good to go!

Tote-

That looks real sweeeeeeeeet... I'm going to have to stop by Fisherman's and pick up a hatch. Where is one around here??? Looks like I can pick everything else up at Lowe's or Home Depot. Man, that's a sweet rig. Nice and simple... just the way I like things to be. Way better than what I was thinking about.

I ran across this thread on an internet search of "hobie kayak drift anchor".  I read and studied the posts and have a couple of questions.....
#1  How did all the different variations work out? I haven't run across many current posts re: anchors
#2  Does the 10#s hold well?
#3  Did anyone experience any mishaps.......I have tried to anchor my old dive board in the river years ago and scared myself
#4  Has anyone designed a system for a hobie with and anchor? The new anchor systems swing the rudder to the side then up. I have lots of ideas but if someone has a working model it might save a little experimenting.
#5  Is there such a thing as floating rope.......as I do not plan to attach the rope to the kayak other than the (not sure what it is called)  cinch?               Thanks In Advance,          Allen

Hey Tote, your old photos from your Prowler anchor rig seem to be missing.  Any chance you can repost, I'd like to try and set something up on my OK kayak.

Thanks In Advance,   Allen

:smt006 Hi Allen,  Here is a link to some floating rope.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Terry Bullard can probably tell you where to get the rope in longer lengths if you need it.  Do you guys ever make it to Mendocino?  I'd really like to cruise The Navarro from Dimmick to the Coast with a small group sometime.   Happy New Year to you, your family, and your Hobies.   -Matt

Here is the mount I made for my Mini-X, all done just going to change the hardware a little. Tried it yesterday and it works great. I wanted to be able to pull the anchor with one hand so I used a V-Cleat which is basically a Clam cleat with a fairlead so if you let go of the rope it falls back in the jaws and saves your anchor. Anybody see dark green cutting board any where? As a bonus the upturned alum. works great for a handle when karting.

Here's another option for a drift boat style option anchor system I rigged for a T-11.  Used a Scotty anchor mount I had, with 2 pieces of aluminum (1 angle) I scrounged from my neighbor, and a few nuts and bolts. Fitted it to the stock holes on the T-11.  Works great on rivers.

Edit: I removed the locking mechanism that comes on the Scotty mount so that I control the line from the cockpit and can quickly release the line and dump the anchor if needed.

If you're looking for quick-release anchor rigs for sturgeon fishing, check out Tote's tutorial on a nice rigging option for that set-up that is a sticky post in this forum
