Eric, do you want to consider re-gifting the SOTD abalone shells. That would be cool . Like the Stanley cup. The same shell handed down year after year.

I appreciate the thought, Craig, but I'm stoked to continue gifting shells that are to me now old trophies that have lived a long life on the wall by the hot tub!  To have a motivation to clean them up and send them to a new life is actually quite rewarding in itself.  If you want to present yours as an award to a participant at GS6 that's up to you - I'd like to see you keep it, but I'm intrigued by the idea of passing it along to another club member who displays the kind of sportsmanship that we all appreciate.  The award has gone to highest catch and release only score, but I've stated with each SOTD awarded that I consider it an opportunity to award someone who does something heroic for the group.  The sportsmanship represented by catch and release is worthy of the award if we didn't have someone really rise above and stand out with a rescue or something.

Glad to hear it, Daniel!  And I have to say, it's fortuitous that you would post because I was thinking of you and brothers like you when I wrote of awarding sportsmanship awards to others in our group.  Looking forward to hanging with you.   :smt001

Just got the donation package from Surf to Summit.  Wow!  They came through with a nice variety of their products.

THANK YOU, SURF TO SUMMIT!!!   :smt007

Kokatat kicked down a PFD and a paddle jacket.  Bending Branches is sending one of their new paddles that doesn't even come out until March.  NRS sent a great donation.  Things are shaping up nicely.

Get those registrations in so I know how much other bling I can bring!   :smt001

Is the reserved area going to be subdivided, in case there are those who actually want to get some sleep the night before? I know, party pooper- but I get sleepy around midnight and a few beers...   :)
That's why I was considering getting a spot on the opposite end of the reserved area (for sleeping after the party).

the two groups are divide by those who have 'ear plugs' and those who don't... :smt044 :smt044

Lol. I'll stop by walmart to get some plugs- cheaper than buying an rv- although hobie dave's storage locker on his yak trailer might fit me fine!

That's why I am very grateful for being deafness.  :smt003

Right on, Dave, but be sure to bone up on your safety and get some time on the ocean first if you can.  It'll take more than a farmer john to get you past security and onto the water at GS6.   :smt003  I'll keep an eye out for your registration.   :smt001

Eric I would like to  know what items of safety equipment and non safety equipment will be mandatory for the tournament?  I am new to all of this and am getting my gear put together and need to know what I need to be ready for GS6.  Thanks for the info.

sharkbait67 - I also addressed your question in your other thread.

Generally, a waterproof VHF, PFD, dressing for immersion, carrying a compass, and knowing of other safety options is expected of all competitors.  We have a safety meeting Friday evening at the launch - much valuable information on the local area and general info about safety is available there.  Spending some time on the ocean prior to the event is very important too.  See you in May.   :smt001

Thank you for the information.  Like I said I just want to be ready and dont want to wait until I get up there to find out I missed something important.  I have been to Shelter Cove before and if I remember right the West Marine and kayak supply store there closes early (haha).

Thanks Again
