Okay, I think it's time to get a flag mounted on the kayak.
The Railblaza Visibility Kit looks nice but is a bit pricey, and actually has mixed reviews.
Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Andrew

Everyone is looking at flags now. I want a 72 inch flag that boaters can’t miss. If someone could make me a cheap one I can easily detach from an outback that would be great. If not I will attempt to make my own.

Use this type of 48" foldable flag pole order from www.aliexpress.com  You can also purchase from Amazon with many different mounting options.

I picked upa two piece 8' dune buggy flag, and then added one of Paul's NCKA flags. At the base I taped on some pipe insulation tapering it with electrical tape to fit in the rod holder on my crate very visible.

I use a 72" fiberglass driveway marker from home depot and a old water ski flag I found in a trash can. You can get the pole for $4 and a flag for $5 from home depot. I just zip tied a tube inside my crate that this slips into

Our NWKA brothers and sisters to the north require flags as a basic safety item for salt water and recommend generally.  It’s just a culture shift needed in Northern California.  Been flying safety flags for years in OR and WA.

I use the railblaza but there’s many better and far cheaper options out there.

I used the same reflective rod from home depot that christianbrat uses along with a cheap cut out orange construction flag. Before I would use old tent poles (which I liked) because you could easily fold them up for storage.

I really like my YakAttack Visi Carbon light/flag pole. Although the light stopped working, I found a 12$ light to replace it.  Still a bit expensive, but it's stood the test of time.  Also dont forget that you can always clip a flag to a fishing pole as well.

I used to use the red hobie flag that comes with the yak on a fishing rod! Works great for a yak without a crate like my scrambler XT. Those hobie canopies being red are probably a good thing too. It makes me wish my kayak wasn't blue too..

Whoa... this is NCKA.  That marker rod at HomeDepot is $3.98.  Pretty rich my friend.  ;)

I'm ordering one today.  I have a RailBlaza flag but it's really short.

Attaching a flag to an extra rod is a great simple idea. i have an ugly neon shirt I could cut out and attach it to. The home depot flag is not available in my area but good idea.

Thanks for the HD flag suggestion.  Will get one.  Someone posted cheap light that can hang off the pole, is there a link to that?

I made simple ones out of HD fiberglass rods and bright orange ripstop nylon fabric.  I then drilled a hole in a scupper plug and slid the flag pole through it for the mounting base.  Cheap but effective.
