Thanks for the HD flag suggestion.  Will get one.  Someone posted cheap light that can hang off the pole, is there a link to that?

Personally, I think a 4' high flagpole is way too short, 6' is marginal, and 8' is about right. You can be pretty close to a kayak in moderate swells and a 4' flag can disappear into a trough.

100% agree, and any angle on that will effectively shorten it too, so mounting as perpendicular to the water as you can is best!

I like the idea of clipping an orange flag onto the extra pole. Always have one extra 7' pole standing up, so an orange flag on that can't hurt. I fish pretty shallow (sub 50' usually) and in and amongst the rocks, so i worry less about the PBs but always good to be visible to everyone, including your fishing buddies.
