I've got some water coming into my Revo 16 from what seems to me to be a planned design flaw. The Lowrance Ready connection that routes the transducer cable from the transducer into the interior of the boat is situated directly in the rear well, which on the 16 is WAY lower than on the 13.  I'm 195#, and the rear well area is constantly wet and that wetness enters through that plug connection.  Maybe 12oz over 6 hours on the water. Not gonna sink wet, but I sure don't like it either and if that seal ever really failed it would be BAD.

I leak tested the boat to make sure this was the only issue, it is.  Seems like a dumb place to put that plug particularly since putting it a little higher on the back of the seat riser would have prevented the problem.  I'm sure this must have been batted around before so I thought I'd check in with the collective hive.

Kinda hard to see in the photos below, but there's a steady stream of water coming out of that connection on my leak test.

If that's an issue I would just marine goop that area up.
I have leaks in mine bc I took the 8" round hatch seals out and that bothers me more than some water to get in.

I noticed this too when I was installing a transducer on my Revo 16. The Revo 13 has the hole right behind the seat. I would just put some goop on it and call it a day.

That is a really dumb placement. I didn't notice that when I was checking out your new ride. Maybe relocate it yourself up higher and plug the current one with a solid cover and some goop. It would involve drilling, but that may be better long term.

Cheers,
Brad

I agree, that it's dumb placement, and that relocating it is the way to go. I've used the Hobie thru-hull wiring kit for several things, and as long as it's on a vertical surface above any standing water, it works great. You could plug the hole so it'll never leak using 2 fender washers (one inside and one outside), a short bolt, and a bit of goop (and with this approach, if you ever decide you want to open that hole again, it's easily reversible).

Ok, thanks everyone. Glad it's not just me thinking that's crazy!  I'll take the path of least resistance (goop) first and go from there.

This.  When I had my Revo 16, I sealed it completely and bore another hole much higher up.

You got me wondering… my Revo 16 is a 2019 model, and looks like they fixed that issue.

Lior, is that the "stock" placement on your 2021 16, or did you move it?

Probably 2017 bc mine is a 2016 and has the same issue.

I’ll check thelocation of mine too. But you could just relocate the thru-hull plug to a different/better spot if that location is prone to leaking. Or slather the backside with abunch of Goop.

Ok, decided to goop the existing ridiculous connection as opposed to permanently sealing that off and drilling another big hole and moving it.  Figured if this simple fix does not work I can always do the other but I'm ALWAYS hesitant to drill new big holes in boats.

Taped off the hole area using some ABS I had lying around as a template for the tape.  Used a cut down throw away brush for the goop so I could get a stiffer effect pushing the goop around into the crevasses. Goop doesn't really set, it simply evaporates the thinner and that happens a LOT faster than I thought it would. I really only had about 10 mins before it starting getting to thick to move.  At that point, I removed all the tape because I knew it would be impossible to get out when fully cured.  Because of that, the finish is not as smooth as I'd like, but the adherence seems very good.  If I had it to do over again I'd probably thin the goop a bit with acetone to give a little more working time.  I'll report back after I've water tested it a few times.
