At one time, right before I got into kayak fishing, I started taking flying lessons.  It didn't stick, but recently I've got the bug again.

Does anyone here fly?  Anyone with recent flight school experience or know a CFI?  I'm looking for an accelerated program but if a part 61 instructor and plane were available on a 4-5 day per week, 2-3 flights per day, i'd be interested.  It can't be here in Humboldt, the weather and the instructors are too unpredictable and is what turned me off last time, cancelling more often than we flew.  Hence the need for accelerated instruction.  I'd go anywhere in the US but prefer to stay somewhere on the west coast that isn't southern California.

Even if someone could point me in a direction.  Some online forum where I might find a culture like NCKA?  Anyone have a Beechcraft Bonanza or Mooney 201 for sale?

I'm a flight school student at the UC Davis flight school. Check out the Cal Aggie Flyng Farmers club. It's likely the cheapest flight school in NorCal as it's University subsidized. Decent equipment - 70s era (but well maintained) Cessna 152s for Priv Pilot and 172s for Instrument rating.

I haven't booked any hours for quite a while (took time off for the pandemic) but they have great instructors - youngins getting their hours before applying commercial jobs with the big carriers.

It's not close to you, but if you could book 4-6 hour blocks weeks in advance, you could probably get it done. It's walking distance for me.  There is typically a few month waiting list to get in, so move quickly if you want to start soon.

That's a good recommendation on the Cal Aggies program - they are well respected.
I did part 61 and took a year and a half to complete (job, family, ...) but wasn't really in a rush.

you can do part 61 in 2 weeks, just camp out at the airport and pre-arrange with the instructor.

A number of good instructors in the Sacto region - and plenty of Cessnas.  if you want Cirrus - go to the bay area, south bay.

Good bets:
CFI.com (KSAC)
Sunshine Flyers (KAUN)
Mach 5 (KAUN)

good luck!

I don't need to log time in cirrus to train.  I have a buddy with a Cirrus 22 and I love the plane but I like the mid 70s mooneys and beechcrafts too for a third of the cost and a third of maintenance.

Interesting, but I think that is much better suited to the folks that live right there.  If I travel that far (or farther) it will be for the 2 week 1st flight to checkride program.  Theres several of them around, KSAC has one.  There's also ones in places like Rexburg Idaho and Palmer Alaska which both sound better than spending two weeks in sacramento.

I know Carter at CFI.com has trained some folks in 1-2weeks for private and 1-2 for instrument

Ukiah should have something if not Itasca/South Dakota University/Embry Riddle/Accelerated flight school/American flyers and California flight academy.   Santa Rosa has flight training.

Well first off the screen name "crash" won't get you any friends when flying! :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

It has been so long since I took lessons, I haven't a clue who to fly with. But if you do, find a good flight club that will not shutdown in the dark of night. Make sure they are reputable and have good instructors. I am also an aircraft mechanic  so I knew a lot more on planes than most instructors do.
If you do find a club, hopefully they have good instructors who actually have a lot of "stick time." I had one with less than 300 hours who got us into an unsafe predicament which my experience got us out of. You never want that.
Good luck in your endeavors and if you think kayak fishing is addicting, flying is a worse addiction!
