The annual herring spawn is here and it is early this year. I’m getting multiple reports from different groups it’s happening all around the bay. I can’t vet them all but this what I know.

So far ARW, Paradise and the mission st (chase center), has spawning fish. I’ve seen photos and trying to update when I can from people sending me in info. Best I can do is update my blog and instagram to help you guys.

It’s on right now, so get your spawn on! — TLA

Guys are out there this morning but no signs of life yet. There are birds wait at ARW. It’s early in the season so it’s gonna be a lot of hit and miss but they are here which is good news. Just gotta be patient until you got the jackpot.

If anyone wants to let me tag along for one of these missions, I'd be honored. I've never done it.  I've got the casting net, but could use a mentor ;)

What type of throwing net should a novice start out with for pursuing herring?

How good are you at throwing castnet. I got the big one, I suck at throwing. should have got the smaller one.
