Hey,

I've fished forever in northern california, but I'm new to kayaking.  I've had the Hobie about a month & used it in the American river and Lake Natoma/Folsom.
I'm looking forward to fishing the coast without the big gas expense form the boat.
Anyone else live in the Sacramento area or foothills looking for a fishing partner?
Also, I'm interested in the basics of kayak safety in the ocean.

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome to the board Mark,

I'm in the Sac area, Elk Grove.... I would be happy to fish with you.
Hopefully we'll see some salmon action on the rivers this fall.
Watch the hookups section.

Welcome Mark!
I think Tote lives in Placerville. And I only remember this because my parents live in Shingle Springs and we exchanged msgs about fishing up there next time I get a chance to visit. The place I really want to kayak camp+fish is Loon Lake, up above Union Valley Res. I've fished there a number of times but always from shore.

Good luck!

Welcome to NCKA! I'm in the East Bay, but the most beautiful places to paddle are in the Sierra. Just post Hook Ups because I, too, want to fish Loon Lake, and I really enjoy kayak camping and fishing at Spicer Meadows. Trout...yum!

  Loon lake.

Love that area!  I've drooled over that lake many times when I was there starting the Rubicon trail. Way back when, the jeep trail actually drive into the lake, that is, half of the vehicle was in the water, the other half on the bank, for about 50- 60 yds.  Last time I went over the trail, (earily 90's) the trail was actually diverted up and out of the water.  Someone finally got smart to suggest that bypass.
Still, it's a very beautiful lake, frozen over or not.
