Hey all!

I am making my move to Beale AFB soon, and I am excited to be closer to the coast once again (coming from Montana). My military duties have helped me fish the coastlines of Washington and Alaska for about 8 years,  so I am experienced in fishing cold waters.

I was pleasantly surprised how lax the fishing regulations were here, and I look forward to joining ya'll on the water soon!

I've been using Hobie Outbacks for about ten years and love them. Currently my rig is an orange limited edition that I picked up in 2015.

Welcome.

Your comment about how lax the fishing regulations are here makes me wonder, are you an attorney?

Welcome!  The fishing is not as good as in Alaska, but the kayaking community is top notch!  And of course, we have the Whites :)

Welcome. I was never in the military, but I worked with a lot of military people (especially Air Force) in the past when I was a civilian employee of Uncle Sam, working at No Such Agency.

I was wondering about your “lax” regulations comment too, as that word has never come to my mind wrt the CA fishing regs.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I’m also curious about the regulation comment.
Maybe he meant LAX, as in Los Angeles International Airport…

Welcome Martin!

I just got back from a long weekend in Oregon, and I never thought I would say this, but you are right!!  CA fishing regs are very straight forward and simple!

Just watch out for the MPAs though...

Welcome to the Madness! There are lots of kayak fishing opportunities in CA.
And I think you’ll find the regs in CA aren’t quite as lax as Montana. Sometimes they’re flat-out complicated, to be honest. But there are a LOT of people in CA and we have to protect our resource somehow…otherwise all the waterways would be polluted & fished out.
