Sure, but I'll bet you keep a stash of Tasty cake on hand for bribes if you're caught

Point of order its Tastykake, spelling matters.

LOL you too !!! I went to Our Lady of the Eternal Agony ,  Sister Mary Mea Culpa was my teacher , Father O`Cupofholywater was principal

I went to Marin Catholic and was a dishwasher with my buddy at an all girls high school San Domenico.  We were the talk of the food line.  I was on campus on a weekend for some girly reason flying high on psilocybin.  A nun, back when they had them, saw me and I seemed out of order so she called me over and I ran like a gazelle away from her.  Around a corner the head nun was right there and she grabbed my arm with ninja like precision and stopped me in my tracks.  I tried to break free but she held me with hand o' God and I had to answer for my presence.  I forget what I told her but I'll never forget that grip.  I guarantee it was a colorful wiggly vision though as I was being interrogated.  I'm all better now... :smt005 :smt006

Heck, I took home an undersize Dungeness claw that broke off the crab and I’ve been on the lam since.
We better wise up.  No more shenanigans... :smt006

I’m torn.

Driving solo in the commuter lane wreaks of selfish prickery, as the only people you’re getting over on are fellow commuters.  However, registration fees for a kayak with a trolling motor seems like textbook government overreach....and i tend to support rebel citizenry in such instances.

I say damn the man, run the trolling motor and let the Leo’s sort it out. Pro tip....any self respecting law enforcement officer is going to expect fresh baked goods, typically of the round sugar coated variety. Attempted bribery with any of these third rate factory snack cakes that get pumped out on an assembly line are just gonna score you a guaranteed ticket.
Brah!  TastyKakes are second rate are they not?  A Leo in the know would reconsider his position if it still had the wrapper on...

If it's the USCG that discovers you're operating a vessel that's improperly documented, they can terminate your voyage.  That means they will escort you to the nearest safe harbor -- that might not be where your car is.  If you were to get back underway without remedying the issue, then that would be a felony.

But hey, try it... let us know how it goes.  Get a selfie with the officer who cites you.

When I was living in Bishop, I bought a Laser sailboat, one person, about 14 ft, from someone out of state. I went into the DMV to register it, and the old lady there claimed (incorrectly) that it didn't need to be registered because it was small and sail-powered. I tried to show her the regulation that said otherwise, and got major pushback and lots of "don't tell me how to do my job" attitude. So I went with it, phuque the poe lease. Sailed in a bunch of regattas and noticed that a fair number of people didn't register their Lasers either. Never had any problem, never heard of anyone who did. But yeah, that driving solo in the HOV lane thing is some bullshit.

Hov single bad! F$%# reg yup. Real men (and women) pedal or paddle. Motoring is not kayaking in my book. That said. I own 4 motor boats and 12 kayaks. Been drooling over the solo skiff since seeing Ariels and even he has it registered. Pay the fee and go play! Hov lane, just no.... Thanks for a great winter thread! Tastykakes, guess I gotta go try them now... Pro staff openings? They got any stickers?!?!
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

My brother had a problem talking in class. The ruler wasn’t having the intended effect on him so one day Sister put him in a closet to keep him from disrupting the class.  The closet had a window in it though and it was a sports equipment closet so he thought it would be good to make use of his incarceration so he grabbed a basketball and practiced his shooting against the wall and his dribbling.  He said things went downhill fast from there  :smt044

What happens with the catch me if you can attitude?  I'm the type of person who drives in the commuter lane waiting for my ticket.

total POS move :jerk:  But one i've done before, with justification ...

It was the spring of 2019 and I didn't want to defile my gucci new EV with a sticker that looks like it belongs better on salmon dodger than my bumper.  So I didn't apply stickers.  Instead, kept the sticker pack in plain view and easy reach on the passenger seat.
One morning on my way to work, on 280N just before Wolf Road, got pulled over in the HOV lane by officer so&so.

License and registration.
(I silently comply, hand it over)

Here's your citation for driving without an HOV sticker.
"oh you mean THIS sticker?"

Why haven't you applied it to your car.
"bc I have not"

Well it just cost you a ticket.
"You're wrong, pls rethink that citation."
throws it at me and wox away...

Of course, I figure let's test the system.  bc if I can't beat this dumb ticket, no one on earth has fighting chance.  I mean, my car was registered with the sticker and tags, showed it to the cop, and got cited anyway, right??

I filed to contest.

On the appointed day, I had briefed the matter with a file two inches thick, my legal authorities, pictures, written argument etc were on point af.  Of course, the cop NO SHOWS, and I moved to dismiss, in the interests of justice AND because the state has no possibility of securing a guilty verdict, given that I was driving a vehicle registered for HOV lane.

However the fix was in, and the judge CONTINUED the matter instead of DISMISSING outright.  FF!!!!

When the second court date rolled around, I was primed for battle.  My file was now four inches thick, and I had grown out a cop mustache, figuring no LEO will get the drop on me just bc he got a little peach fuzz.  I was looking for every tactical advantage to decimate the opposition.

But of course, the cop NO SHOWS again.  Finally, the case was dismissed.

While legally vindicated, I was anything but satisfied.  I was denied the opportunity to humiliate and take to school The Man.  Further I had only proved to aggravate myself and waste so much time and energy in the process.

Story Moral:  Just reg ur motorized vessel bc its u shd do the "right thing" and avoid the trouble.  (Also stay the f out my HOV lane!)

Continued?  Surely that is error.  I’ve never seen that happen before.

Story does remind me of the time I beat a red light camera for a paying client. I did discovery, got hold of the contract between the city and the red light company.  Found a clause that provided for clear kickbacks to company that were not revenue neutral to city.  All camera evidence suppressed tyvm.

Santa Clara County, mussel inspection, the inspector would not allow a pontoon with an electric launch....no vessel ID.

No ticket....But no access.
