Got a call from Jack at the Shelter Cove Campground yesterday.  He's been fielding calls asking about 'kayak weekend'.  I told him that as much as I want to get together with the NCKA family and to hold Gimme Shelter again, I won't be moving on any type of organizing until covid is closer to being in our past.  Right now levels of contagion, illness, hospitalization and death are at record highs across much of the state and the nation - including here in Humboldt County.

I'm open to having the event later in the year, but my top priorities and guiding principles relate to the pandemic and how bringing visitors to the north coast could be a big health threat to all involved.

Hang in there, folks - we will rise again.

Somebody has to use their common sense. Glad it was you - Eric.
We'll make it happen at a later date

Eric,  keep me in the loop.  I may have to make a trek down south to catch up with all of you!  If it does happen this year, I know it will be a great event regardless if 5 guys show up or 1000.

Always enjoyed fishing at Shelter Cove. Great people. I appreciate your reservations for the safety of the Cove and NCKA. I’m sure we will all get through these trying  times and be much happier.

That is the right answer.  Good to be concerned for our hosts as well.  We don't need to be the vectors.

Way to step up and make the right call Eric.

Hoping to make it up there for GS once it is back on again.

Definitely the right thing to do...even though I'm crying on the inside.   :smt010

Right on Eric. This is the right thing to do. It will probably be one more year before we get back to normal with our annual scheduled events. In all likely hood i will cancel my tournament too. Let's hold on tight. Waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel. --TLA
