I did a short test paddle of the Trident at Albion and the first thing I noticed was the dry-ride. At 240 lbs. (I lost 10 pounds :smt001) my butt was dry  :bootyshake:  :smt038

I was also able to store the Rollezz inside the front hatch and still have room for rod storage in the "rod pod"  :smt023 :smt023 :smt023

Gotta love the one hand buckle system on the bow hatch :smt007

.....will do more "tests"  :smt002

Congrats on the weight braddah! :beer2 Storing the Wheelez in the hatch is awesome! Don't think many yaks have that much storage. BTW do you think you could fit that cart into the forward hatch of a Malibu Extreme? (my next yak from the good people @ GWKC :smt003)

Thanks Z! That book you sent me is helping the cause  :smt023

Not sure about the extreme, perhaps Chuck or Sean can answer this....but, I was able to store the rolleez in the front hatch of the X-Factor  :smt045

Spent about an hour with the Trident at the Aquatic Park last night. Chuck,Howard,Willie and Pat showed up to test paddle it as well.

I felt that the Trident felt tippy at first but after a few strokes, it handled just like it's predecessor, the P15. The seating and footwells improved and the rod pod is definitely a welcome addition. The Trident has the "glide" that P15 is known for and the cockpit has a lot of room for pimp'n. I have not taken this boat to the big blue...hoping to take her to Linda Mar and the Hollow soon for the final exams  :smt002

From what I've seen so far, the Trident has the best of the P15 and the Big Game  :smt002

more on the review to follow.....

Mooch... you forgot to mention Aki -- our unofficial canine kayak tester.  She liked the tankwell.  :grommit:

It's like a nice cross between the Prowler15 and the Big Game -- taking the best qualities from each.  I like it, but for now, I'm still partial to my more portable and sexier P15.  I probably need to take a Trident to the beach and fish from it to get to know it better.

I think Aki would have preferred to be in the water swimming and retrieving any floating object she can get in her mouth. That dog simply LOVES being "out there"  :smt003 I've never seen an older dog with some much energy  :smt002 I truly miss having a dog of my own  :smt012

But I must say that despite the fact that she wanted to jump into the water for a swim, she was very obedient to Chuck's comand and stayed on the P15's tankwell. I think Chuck should open up his own Doggie School  :smt045

I totally agree, the P15 still has special place in my heart  :smt007 All this kayak really needed was a rod pod. IMO: The size, shape and weight of the P15 is what made this boat a favorite among the Nor Cal veterans.  :smt045

Thanks again ChuckE and Mooch for bringing those kayaks in.  As a beginner, I really feel comfortable on all 3 ( P15, Trident, T160)...They all paddled great, good tracking, speed and stability on flat water.  I can't wait to try them on open water but if I have to choose one right now, I'd pick the T160 just because it's feels a little faster and looks like a sports car on water.  If I have to choose between the Trident and the P15, I'd pick the P15 because it's cheaper, sits lower than the trident and I don't mind the wet ride...my 2 cents.

Mooch, Is the P15 going to be phased out or will it still be available?

Don't know about that....I hope not. I'll send Mowrey an email about it.

I just wanted to thank you guys for letting me test cruse your kayaks. I think the Trident is a winner, my only concern was how or where would you mount a rod holder in the front where you can reach it, besides that nice yak. Thanks again I had a great time.
