Im getting tired of the local lakes and the delta, I want to try somewhere new but I can't find somewhere to go! I'd love to try some salt, but I don't think my 10 foot kayak would do too well out there. Any of you guys have any suggestions for me? I am up for anything, I just need to get out of the house this weekend! Oh and I will fish for anything!  :smt001

10 ft is short.  Maybe, the Forebay (O'Neill's or San Luis forebay---same place)for striper's or LMB.  If you do salt Monterey or more south is the place for you.

I don't think the length of the boat is all that important as long as it is stable enough (>100lbs excess weight capacity).  Mainly it'll just be slow, and perhaps not very good in the surf.

Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead

Hi Yaker:

I would try the West Harbor to the one mile can in Santa Cruz or the Kelp Beds. Long sandy Beach just in case you need to make a landing.

I want to dive ( spear )/fish monterey this weekend. If you want to split gas from modesto to Monterey let me know and I sure could use the company on the way home to stay awake. I would like to go on sunday. You're really not far out of my way for a trip to monterey.

I have a scupper pro, FND, hobie maui, WS freedom to paddle from if you want to borrow a larger boat.

Jeez! Got enough boats there, Brian?!
Just messin with ya.

I'll be fishing the Monterey area tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to post up some good news for ya'll going on Sunday.
And a 10 ft boat is fine. It'll just be slow. I think Sailfish was fishing from an even smaller yak when we went to Shelter Cove in March.

i would suggest carmel, if not this time, for your next time. it's a really short paddle (i'm talking like 500yrds) but a lot of fish and fun. just becareful with the breakers but then you'd have to worry about that at any beach. have fun.
