My Name’s Rich, and I Like Fish

Good day, Fellow Anglers,

Long time shore angler and new forum member here. Thanks for the add.

Moved back to the Monterey in June 2019. Have been 100% consumed with the salty fishing opportunities the area has to offer - pounding the sand fishing the surf for Perch and Striper, and scraping my reels and knees on the rocks for Rockfish Lings and Cabs.

Though I have longed to leave the shore. Plenty of mornings I have been perched on the rocks, greeting the Kayak Anglers as they paddle or peddle out toward depths and distances to which I cannot cast.

Well the longing was enough that I have finally picked up a boat - a used 2015 Hobie Outback. I’m over the moon.

PFD is in the mail and I’m tuning the boat and peripheral gear for some outings to come.

I look forward to gleaning this forum’s knowledge and eventually contributing some of my own.

Seems there is no shortage of salty kayak anglers in Monterey area, so I’m sure I’ll see some of you around.

Haha that’s a familiar story...I remember sitting on the rocks wondering what’s lurking under those kelpbeds that are just beyond casting range.
