Those columbia drain makers look good.. My prior shoes are columbia that i keep for back up and they served well but sun, salt, and sand began to take it's toll.  The model i was using began to bungee deteriorate, soles hardening, and mesh letting sand through.

I was concerned with sand accumulation with the Huks but so far, hasn't really been an issue. Just rinse thoroughly afterwards. As far as fashion, I think i may be kinda clown fashionable  :smt003 with the visibility colors, but in my aging years... ah wells.

Was able to get a hands on look at the adidas voyagers and the quality, form factor(lightness) seemed the way to go. The huks seemed beefier(sturdier?) and the price was right.

I think there might be some deals on the Huk website sale section also

When I was humping gear at "exotic" launches, I'd wear running shoes with the insoles removed.  Extra traction and stability were clutch when portaging Mill Creek, Elk, or Malposo.
Adidas Ultraboost drains like a sieve.

No more humping lately so its just crox

I'm probably going with the NRS Backwaters or the SEAC Drive boots. Looking for something in the 3MM @ 10.5 so looks like I'll have to do some searching for stock availability.

The Columbia's look great but for me any kayak clothing has to either A) easy to ditch or B) be able to swim in.

I use 2 kinds of shoes. I get them 2 sizes larger to fit into my dry pants and Drysuit.
Both have non-marking soles.

Columbia for local freshwater lakes, these draining shoes go on sale at the end of the year at Columbia Outlet Stores.  I go to the one in Great Mall, Milpitas (before Covid)

NRS Paddle Wetshoes for the ocean. I just retired one after 10 years of use and got a new pair.

For path launches and in warmer weather, I use old Cabelas stream boots - felt soles with carbide studs for the mud and rock slime.

When it’s colder,  5mil dive boots, also with felt and carbide.

No crocs.

This makes me think of digging out my old Korkers soles from my jetty fishing days back east.

Don’t neglect wearing good socks also. I like Merino wool socks. Warm and it doesn’t give you that wet socks feeling that cotton does.

I bought these a couple years ago and love them. Like Mel, I bought a couple sizes too big to wear over warm socks and drysuit.

I wear the shorter NRS boot.  No socks.

I’ll buy the boundary boot when it gets cooler.

I’ve sun burned my feet and it’s damn crippling. I won’t expose my feet skin on the water. Naked I look like I’m wearing white socks 100% of the time.  Pics not needed. :0. They are very white. And my legs are tan. It’s a great look.

I wear surf booties too. They are neoprene, so they keep your feet warm. Mine have a slightly hard rubber sole, sort of in between and sock and a shoe.

I really like my Kokatat booties. The 3mm is super warm, and they're tall enough where I usually launch without getting my feet wet.  Nice rubber soles for walking around and makes portage easier.  https://www.amazon.com/Mens-Scout-Kokatat-Charcoal-Choice/dp/B07CRPYHSC
