I'm finna stay in Carmel for a stretch.  Could use recommendations as to:
  • restaurants
  • kid friendly activities and sites
  • little known things that the locals love

We'll be hitting the old standards like driving down to Jade Cove, Lovers, McWay Falls, and are already familiar with the Monterey standards of the Wharf, Cannery Row, Alvarado Street, and will staying near Carmel River St. Beach.

Mostly interested in the local intel about restaurant openings (patio only, take out etc.) and hangouts.

advance thx!

Dining inside restaurants is now open in Carmel.  We had dinner at http://dametracafe.com/ yesterday, good prices, big portions and free dessert. Ocean Ave. was packed with tourists.

It's  been a long while since I came on this site. But I was browsing and thought I'd add my dining experiences.
Check out Passionfish in Pacific Grove. Mostly seafood but the food is excellent and very well prepared. I've been there twice and came back impressed each time. It's a fine dining restaurant but has takeout currently.

Haha. Yeah, got married. Then had a kid and then I had to go and give my kayak up. Been a while and hope to get back into kayak fishing soon again.
