The dudes who blew up some of those spots know exactly what they were doing.  In their defense, they just spew this bs about how its the ocean and everyone knows it, but thats only partially true.

For some its a means for money, for others its just simply the feeling of being liked by random strangers on the internet that like your video and blow you through youtube....yeah, you know who you are.

It's not about the money.  Very few people are making any money to speak of on this, certainly not worth the time invested in it.

-Allen

I know...but I didn't want to discredit anyone out there who's actually making some money on the side doing this because you know someone was bound to point that out just to disagree with me.   :smt005

The ones doing the real harm are the ones who just want attention from the random strangers on the web.  At some point before Youtube, they were just kayak anglers that respected it just as much as the rest of us.  Hopefully they will think back to those times and get their shit together.

Couldnt agree more.  I am hoping there is a middle way where all the different places/generations/walk of life can somewhat agree on some rules.  Yes, I know its impossible but the point is not to make everybody happy, it's to see if expectations can be the same no matter your differences.

I am just tired of hearing all the blames and negatives, there has got to be a better way to just enjoy our favorite sport and the community around it.  Well, during winter is to be expected .....

Coastside isn’t perfect, they have their bickering too. But I am impressed with how much they share there. The spirit of brotherhood is thriving there. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that everyone pays to play there and they know that their money goes to some really worthwhile projects.

Have the OGs who started NCKA considered a subscription service? $25 per year to post? With 100% of the funds raised applied towards a NCKA worthy cause (maybe even partnering w coastside to support the HMB salmon pen program)? Perhaps this would keep everyone focused on what’s important.

You presume NCKA does not support anyone or anything in need, without the use of subscription fees. NCKA is more close knit among members, even the occasional bickering ones, than Coastside will ever be.

I guess it depends on what motivates you to fish. I use to post some of my fishing reports on ncka, but then started to post on IG. Salmon, halis and even RF to some extent (there are so many rock piles and I'm not that into it to find hidden ones that I'd be willing to protect) can be posted without ruining the spot.

It didn't feel right for some reason and this post finally made me realize why i rarely post my fishing reports on any platform. I remember the time when you'd be tight on a huge fish that wants to spool your reel, but you'd just hang onto the rod as to not let the boats surrounding you know that you're hooked up. Same idea applies to when you land and want to keep your catch a secret instead of boasting when people ask -- you're marking yourself and giving up intel for those who are keeping track.

View if I post, don't subscribe or like and it feels good.
