I have to agree. Nobody owes anything to this person besides a court date

No anger here, but maybe hold that last thought

This is a town that has guarded itself as a non-tourist-destination since before prohibition, and even manages to keep the law at a distance. What response do you think you’re going to stir up if you take one of the locals to the law for making some noise and a few waves

Ive fished Bolinas for decades and got along fine with the local salmon guys, why’s it all of a sudden a problem?

I'm assuming those locals saw the videos of TLA and Moo "blowing up" their spot on youtube. While I appreciated those videos then, I would not appreciate someone coming to my neighborhood and doing that. I was out there on Sunday morning... there were a lot of kayakers... like a lot at one time. I dont know if yall planned on grouping up like that. Something to consider not doing. The parking was filled up by one group of people. I thought Matts last video showed some class by saying "Marin Coast" and not specifically Bolinas.

As one of the kayakers in this video, one among the many who were harassed/threatened by this clown, I think this situation amounts to more than just "a few waves". The morning we launched out of Bolinas, the fog was thick making visibility no more than 100ft. As we're heading out to the salmon grounds, a boat comes screaming up behind us out of the fog within 10ft of our kayaks, and then proceeds to do donuts around us while cussing us out.

Now, if that situation seems acceptable then I don't think you understand how dangerous it actually was for every one of those kayakers out there. I'm sure many of us would have been happy to talk civilly with the guy, but he never offered that and instead threatened us. I'm sure most of the locals in Bolinas are great, this guy just wasn't one of them and should be held responsible for the situation he caused rather than have excuses made for him by other locals/friends and whoever else. Not trying to be an a$$hole here but it was frightening and honestly more than just a few waves.

Regardless of how people find out about a public location, they have a right to not have their lives threatened. Just because people are local doesn't mean they have an exclusive right to the beach.

Youtube, facebook, instagram, snap, NCKA, other forums.  It's the internet age and everybody does it, so it's the new norm.  I do believe the ocean is big and the bite is still up to the fish.

This is completely true, but if you really look at it, some of these kayak anglers with a large following on Youtube also should have better discretion about pointing out spots.  I'm not saying all these locations are supposed to be kept secret, but until recently, some of these spots were kept on the down low among the kayak anglers.  You don't necessarily have to point out the exact location, some people just provide general area, such as Marin, San Mateo Coast, Monterey, etc which is fine.  There is nothing ok about blowing up some of these spots on youtube just for the sake of getting more views/likes/followers.  Some people post to share, some people just post to get views/likes/followers....there's an actual difference.  I won't mention names because some of you snowflakes can't handle my foul language or rat me our for attacking a member, but you know who you dudes are.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with posting pics/video and a summary of our latest excursion (ie  went to sugar pine this weekend, slow bite, hooked up one LMB by the dam, great day to be on the water).   I believe it is part of our community to share information and help each other out when we can.  I once had a NCKA friend show me how to work my way around Rollins and what techniques are effective.  So appreciated in my newb stage and I am forever grateful.  I also agree that each of us has to decide where "the line" is on sharing locations online that we are finding the bite.  Just my 2 cents

Agree with sharing info to help friends and small community to catch fish.
Over sharing on the internet crowd won’t end well.

Safety in #'s! Especially offshore. Its public property and the ocean is for everyone. Theres no whinning in fishing. I wouldnt tell a spot if someone shows me and said not to because that's just being a good friend/fisherman. If you have too many people where you were planning of going? Put your throttle down and find a new one. Kayaks cant travle that fast and we dont want to follow you anyway. I really hope that they reported the boat to the coasties and charges are filed! Make an example out of that dipsh*t

Social media ruins everything. The youtubers were cool at first, entertaining barley any talking, not spot specific. Now it's a bunch of divas who spot burn for likes and subs. Seriously sounding like a bunch of cam girls. Then you have this old crazy local who could of killed/hurt someone. No way acceptable, though I understand why he's pissed. Same reason even local kayakers  are pissed. Mostly goes back to certain halibut vids. But hey don't forget to like share and subscribe.

I'm not a huge fan of youtube vids, but I'd just like to point out that every time I have been to Bolinas everyone is targeting salmon and halibut is an afterthought when the wind picks up. For all the talk about spot burning I don't recall a huge flood of hali reports since those vids were put up, just typical tough days trolling for salmon, sprinkled with some hogs.  Just sayin'

That last part gave me a good laugh.  Honestly, you probably said what I wanted to say in fewer words minus all the bad language.   :smt044
