No kidding. You can legally carry a concealed weapon while fishing in California, and while I personally wouldn't do so, I'm sure some do. Making another fisherman fear for his life by my behavior is pretty low on my list of things to do.

A year or so ago I heard radio chatter about a local giving an NCKA regular a hard time at the lagoon launch, and there might have been some racist stuff said. Wonder if it's the same guy.

I have been along time member of this forum and i have contributed much more to this fishing community then i think you have. Yes, what a "local" think of me has no relevance to my life, but when they cross a line that puts my friends the kayak fishing community in danger, i have a problem with that.

I just talked to someone who knows Loren and OG's from Bolinas.  He is concerned for all parties and wants the best outcome because threats vs. a township, regardless of incidence, certainly way inappropriate and threatening borderline illegal, can only escalate.  We're brainstorming a sit down with Bolinas OG's and NCKA leaders?  that want the best outcome representing hospitality and respect and care for people of any area that we use for our own benefit while making an area better than when we left.  Comments welcome...could be a new thread, I have my beliefs as do you your own...

A sit-down? Regarding this Loren guy? Or just fishing the Bolinas area? When it comes to this guy, Loren, what he did was dangerous, life threatening and full of ill intent. No excuse for that. He should face charges. Regarding Bolinas, I 100% agree with respecting the area, the town and the community. But I don't feel like any sit-down negotiations should be warranted. I shouldn't need "permission" to fish the coast there or park in a public space. If quarantine is in effect we should definitely honor that and stay out. What that Loren guy did is so unacceptable and illegal

Sit down more regarding fishing Bolinas in general, prolly still a waste of time...

4 years, my buddy PSherman and I were fishing in Carmel and the 35 ft. dive boat called "Sanctuary" out of Monterey came motoring directly towards us. The Capt. did not 1 but 2 circles close to us.  The wakes were quite big.

We yelled at him that what he was doing was unsafe for us. He yelled back with a smart ass remark "This is the ocean, buddy!".  We got back at him by posting negative reviews on his Yelp page on 4/3 and 4/4/2016.

I didn't dive with these guys but I'm a diver, I encountered them while kayak fishing at Carmel. They came in less than 50 yards of us and circled around going about 10 knots, I shouted for them to watch their wake. The captain responded, "this is the ocean, buddy!"
Such an A-h013. Such an unsafe operator. I should have called the Coast Guard. My other kayak friends have had a similar encounter before

The captain and crew of this boat don't care about safety.  My buddy and I where kayak fishing in the Carmel State Beach area on 4/2/16. 
The captain motored directly towards and circled us very closely not once but twice.
The boats wake could have easily capsized us.  I should have called a PanPan to the USCG about his unsafe actions.  I have heard other kayakers tell the same story about his disregard to smaller boats.

Makes me wanna go fish Bolinas now!  Never been there, but people don't fight over shitty fishing spots.

For me, this dude's actions kinda did the opposite of keeping "his spot" secret.

...and fuck a "sit-down".  What is this, the fishing mafia?  It's a bunch of grumpy fishermen.

Also, lets try and keep this civil... I am 3-4 years new to the NCKA community... not an OG, but this site has been an inspiration to me for the love of kayak fishing AND the community.  I do not wish any harm on this man.  If anything, I understand where he is coming from.  There are much more civil ways to handle this than circling someone on the water, packing heat, arguments between locals, OGs, and normal weekend warriors like myself.  This guy deserves some consequence, and there are methods of delivering that to him without anything or anyone being harmed, except maybe his pride and wallet.
