Well... I finally took my Tarpon 160 out on it's first fishing trip this morning and landed my first legal striper of the year.  It's a dink at just under 22", but it's good for few a AOTY points.   :smt003

I caught it trolling a half ounce chartreuse/white hair raiser near the Larkspur Ferry.

WTG chuck.  How does it compare to the Hobie/Prowler?

Sweet ride Chuck  :smt002  It's rare to find a bright- colored -Double Hatch T-160. IMO: Wilderness System should still continue making this model. Same with Ocean Kayaks....I have no clue why they discontinued the Scupper Pro  :smt011

The T160 is a pleasure to paddle and is definitely a little faster than the P15.  It's still nowhere near as fast as the Hobie Adventure with turbo fins.   :smt003

sweet ride and nice catch, Chuck.

I love how this AOTY is playing out.  Freddie and Mooch are in striking distance, too.  The new score board is making this a great spectator event even for those of us not in the race...

chuck, I tried mooch's boat, I slid all over that thing compared to my scupper pros.

but it was hella fast. and super cool looking.

do you find the seating comfy?

does your hairraiser have a trailer? or just bucktail?

For me, the seat is comfy enough even without a cushion.  The hump just in front of the seat bothers some, but it helps set me against the backrest and prevents me from sliding forward.  The low sides can make it a wet ride, but it also makes it easier to sit side-saddle and access things behind me.

On the other hand, Scupper Pros have that deeper seating area that's a nice snug fit which is probably better for serious paddling, but makes it a little uncomfortable for sitting sideways.

I really love'em both.

As for the hairraiser, the bucktail was chartreuse and the curly tail was white.
