Chuck,

Get a Surf to Summit kayak seat.  I got two of them now.  The one with the poleholders and bag on it.  I still use that plastic back thing.  I just don't put it in the holes for support.  If I do it that way.  I find that it puts too much pressure on my back.  I just let it hang behind the seat and it will give the seat a little more support.
